Austria has opened a police station in the house where Adolf Hitler was born in 1889, aiming to end its status as a destination for neo-Nazis and far-right extremists.

The renovated building in Braunau am Inn now accommodates around 50 officers.

Authorities say the move is a clear rejection of Nazi ideology and part of Austria’s efforts to confront its past.

While some welcome the decision, others argue the site should have become a museum or educational center focused on the history and lessons of the Nazi era.
