England fans celebrated at a packed fan zone in Manchester as the Three Lions beat Norway in extra time in a tense World Cup quarter-final.

Hundreds of fans went wild with beer thrown into the air and fans hugging each other at The Grosvenor in Manchester city centre.

Up to 3,000 fans at Manchester's Depot Mayfield fan zone cheered and jumped into the air after the late-night win on Saturday night.

Midfielder Jude Bellingham scored twice to set up a semi-final against Argentina on Wednesday.

Former England international Ashley Young told BBC Breakfast: "It was incredible - there were highs and lows."

The ex-Manchester United midfielder added: "It was a tough game.

"But Norway tired in extra-time and there looked to be only one winner for me.

"I am looking forward to the Argentina game."

Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played in England 1990 World Cup semi-final against West Germany in 1990, also said: "We have set it up for a fantastic game against Argentina again.

"We are in a semi-final and that's what matters."

The ex-Nottingham Forest keeper added: "We have had to work very hard for it and the conditions really told on both teams.

"And we had that little bit of luck - the goalkeeper made a liitte bit of an error.

"We really battled after that."
