Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the global economy and society, but the sector remains dominated by US tech giants followed by Chinese AI labs.

Germany and the EU are working to strengthen their AI ecosystem through investments in data centers, semiconductor production and homegrown innovations.

Supporters see growing momentum from autonomous driving startups in Berlin to major chip and cloud projects in eastern Germany, many based in "Silicon Saxony" around Dresden.
