Is this repository abandoned?

It looks like the last merged PR was 2023-02-17 while there are (as of this inquiry) 47 open PRs and 99 issues.

I'm just curious what is the maintenance status of this repository?

Pretty much, yes. I try to add comments where I can but I now consider this abandoned. A fork would be good.

Yes @o0th, you could go the org route and add a few interested people, or you can just create your own fork and point people to it. I can see @ironiq already doing this in some PRs (#315 (comment) and #312 (comment)), though it hasn't been updated since May so maybe they've run out of steam. There's pros and cons to both, although I'd suggest the organisation route is likely going to be more resilient, you get into issues of organisational structuring, communication, etc which some people are more suited to than others.

Hello everyone, I had some problems with tpm and found this issue, so I decided to write my own simple plugin manager - plux. It probably lacks some features and does not handle some edge cases, so keep that in mind.

Contributions of any kind are more than welcome!

I reached out to @bruno- proposing to try and find new maintainers if he is willing.
The tmux-plugins org has a lot of good repos that are not maintained anymore, and I am sure some of the community would be happy to chip in to help.

Update: If that fails we could clone the org as the License is very permissive, but I prefer keeping the repos here if we can.

Following up on that, after some back and forth Bruno recommended that instead of picking up this project it would be better to create a new (and hopefully modern) plugin manager.
I have been working on tpack which is written in Go, has a TUI and implements solutions to most of the PRs found here.
It is a drop-in replacement to tpm.
I have also integrated a plugin browser:

Which is fed from this repo (feel free to send PRs if any packages are missing).

I am looking for feedback before declaring a v1.0!
