Does Stack Overflow have an MCP (model context protocol) server?
1 Answer 1
Yes, an MCP (model context protocol) server for public network data is available. Documentation can be found at https://api.stackexchange.com/docs/mcp-server/. The server can act as a secure interaction layer between the API and an AI agent or application. At this time, the server provides access to data on Stack Overflow specifically, not the wider Stack Exchange network.
As of November 2025, the server is in a beta stage. Usage of the MCP Server is limited to 100 requests per day per Stack Exchange user, which is designed to support prototyping, community projects, and a wide range of lightweight, exploratory tools. Usage feedback can be submitted via this form.
