tldr lots of voice lines removed and small details missing but still try it if you have no other way to play this.
only thing this version really has over original is one extra cut content mission. things i personally noticed were missing was the variable brain values as scientist used to give higher value than the farmers for instance now only a specific enemy gives more(there was also chances for higher value from most at random and higher if you extracted them alive), missing health bars for buildings, lots of enemies in missions are missing scan dialogue even if they are generic guys who should have the basic ones, poxs idle dialogue is missing from the mothership, completely removed the pk systems limitations making situations like just picking up and throwing everything viable and as a consequence voice lines are missing and the holobob was reworked to be a bit more annoying to use as they made practically everything autofail stealth when you could get away with a bit in the original, and finally the ships launch from the mothership is missing the engine flareup and had most of the landing and takeoff animations stripped off to make it faster.

weapons also got reworked and i personally didnt like most of the changes as pretty much everything was changed to adjust it to the unlimited ammo this game gives you through 2s transmog ability. enemy rockets were also seemingly made harder to dodge to incentivize the new dash and saucer repulse as well as the saucer has unlimited health from its new healing mechanic that was originally from the second game making what used to be harder missions with the saucer a bit of a joke

and last nitpick i didnt like the new artsytle especially as humans are made in a way different style from nearly everything else in the game and generally looked awful.

if this is your only way to play the game its still fun but even through all the originals jank i still love it more than this version and hope we do eventually see willy and potf one day on steam too.

Gameplay:
- This is fundamentally the 2005 game with a visual refit, not a mechanical reimagining. The mission design hasn't evolved. You're doing the same three or four objective types across the whole campaign.
- The PK (psychokinesis) system remains the standout mechanic. Throwing cows, cars, and soldiers at each other never loses its appeal.
- Stealth exists but feels simple and mediocre. Going loud is almost always faster, more fun, and mechanically rewarded. The Holobob disguise is more useful for infiltration than actual stealth play.
- Flying saucer segments feel like a different and noticeably weaker game than the on-foot sections. They're spectacle over substance but they're still fun.

Story\Dialogue:
- A Cold War and Red Scare parody rooted in genuine historical absurdity.
- Crypto succeeds as a protagonist precisely because he has no redemption arc. He's malevolent and cheerful about it. That's rare.
- Pox and Crypto's mentor-student dynamic carries the narrative. Without their chemistry, the thin plot would collapse entirely.
- The writing doesn't modernise its humour, which cuts both ways. It feels authentic to its era but occasionally lands flat.
- The story doesn't go anywhere surprising. It's a straight line from arrival to invasion with no real twist. The shallowness is fine given the tone, just don't expect depth.

Graphics\Music:
- The most significant visual improvement over the original is the lighting. The 1950s golden-hour atmosphere across small-town America is genuinely well-executed.
- Environment variety is the weakest area. Five or six different towns all feel like the same assets reshuffled. After a few missions you stop noticing the scenery.
- The sci-fi soundtrack is period-accurate and is done well. It doesn't overstay its welcome.
- Main character models are expressive and well-realised. Generic NPCs are not. The gap is noticeable.

Before you Play:
- Upgrade Dash length abilities, ammo capacity and shields as quick as you can. Everything else is secondary.
- Don't hoard Furon DNA. Spend it as you earn it. The campaign is short enough that saving for later is a waste.
- Mental Domination (mind control) is underused by most players but is quietly powerful for mission objectives.
- Do the side missions when you feel like you need a little boost of Furon DNA but don't do majority of them until you finish the last mission. You get a huge boost of Furon DNA at the end to use on upgrades to make side missions easier.

A great sandbox style explode-em-up. Run around as Crypto and electro-cute, burn, and probe your way to absolute mayhem.
