Anyone know of any TVs that are dumb or linux; without surveillance state stuff?
Or maybe some good projectors instead (again, no spyware pls)?

I had a projector way back around 2005. It was like 1024x768. There was some limited 720p content around there. The bulbs were expensive and after the second one blew out I ended up selling it and getting a plasma TV. (Newer projectors should be better though)
I haven't connected a TV to the Internet since 2011. (I left the country for a bit and didn't have a TV for about 10 years, although I did have one roommate who had one). Currently I use an LG OLED, zero network connectivity, fed by a Linux box that only plays pirated content. I got HDR working:

but if you don't want a smart TV at all, you can try looking at the commercial options (e.g. the TVs used in hotels and airports). I've heard you can get the same OLED panels without any network features at all, but I haven't looked into it in years.
