a melder itself is like 20 euro yeah, basic battery one 7-13 euro, 10-year sealed battery 13-17 euro, wireless interconnect 45-65 euro per piece. so where the hell does 200-300 go? labor my guy.

that buis job is: drilling, pulling cable, 230V wiring, breaker work, testing to NEN-EN 14604 / Bouwbesluit, call-out + first hour 60-90 euro, then per hour. avg install in NL 2026 is like 50-300 euro, 150 avg. 3-5 hardwired melders installed is 100-300 total. so 200-300 for ONE buis run is top of market, thats new-build / concrete ceiling / long run pricing.

cheaper plays:

1. go wireless interconnect, no buis needed. 3-pack for 135-195 euro, stick em up yourself in 20 min, they all scream together. legal for most homes, battery counts as compliant if its sealed 10-year.
2. DIY battery + glue plate. 20 euro melder, magnetic mount, zero drilling. done.
3. if u NEED 230V for rental / new build rules: get 2-3 quotes, ask for surface-mount buis (opbouw) not flush (inbouw), that cuts half the work. or run the buis yourself and let sparky just do the hookup, saves like 100+.
4. combo move: 230V where easy (hallway with power nearby), wireless link the rest. best of both.
