I've found that suddenly and infrequently, for the past week or so, letters are missing from typed code, and I have to go back and fix them.

Now that is not super weird I guess, but as someone who tends to type quite accurately, and uses a high end mechanical keyboard...

I'm just wondering if the keyboard is broken, or if it's a brain tumor.

I've tried to test it, but every time a letter is missing I'm not actually completely sure I hit that key...

And considering the price of the keyboard, I'm also not completely sure which cause I prefer.

I'd prefer the keyboard to be the cause for sure!

Maybe point a webcam at your fingers so you can check back?

@bittersweet I'll be happy to take a look if you send me the footage. And I have recently been scanned to see if I had a brain tumor so I know for sure I have none.

Happens to me too. Frequently in the morning. I tend to forgot E a lot!

@bittersweet chances are that if there's some kind of neurological or motoric disease causing the missing keystrokes, but you can detect missing characters on screen, that the disease doesn't affect your eyesight so you will be able to see your keystrokes.

A keyboard is easily replaced, try another one.

If in doubt, try to find other activities requiring precise manual work, e.g. writing, drawing, playing music, etc. If these activities feel they are not really going well to the level you expect, then it's time to visit the doctor.
