I've seen a few posts on here; exclaiming their disdain when it comes to people finding out about how good they are with computers. And while yes Programming has nothing to do with "fixing" computers; I myself don't mind fixing other people's computers. It's fun and it's usually not completely related to programming. So that means I'm not really doing my job outside of the office.

really only problem I have with it is that I'm usually asked when I'm already busy. but if I'm not doing anything I'll do it, like a month ago at a bar. a friend asked if I could remove the swipe off his phone, removed it before he got finished complaining about how inconvenient it was to have to swipe to make a call. it was funny cause he bought me a beer and was saying thank you every time he turned the screen on his phone the next two weeks.

Ehhh, I do it for a large portion of my family, and while I enjoy it, I still think google is your friend in most situations. Eg, my mum wants to convert png to jpg (for some unknown reason), and I tell her to google png to jpg and she tells me to do it anyway. First thing that comes up is exactly what she needs. I was, of course busy at the time. Anyway sorry for the wall of text (ish)

In the beginning I did hw and sw. Always felt it helped me understand systems from the inside.

I don't mind once or twice. but then when you visit/meet them, you have to fix their stuff. then they call you to fix their stuff. then they want you to fix their stuff for free leaving all the work you get paid for because Facebook is important.

Guilty as charged, sorry;) But often, your "customers" can't really understand how much time these things take, hence not appreciate your efforts. And the requests get more absurd: "Could download a free photoshop for me?" Well...if you steal me a bike, I will...
