It is lamentable that some laptop models are manufactured using a combination of hardware that is too special for a Linux to run smoothly ootb.

A year ago I replaced the bcm wifi card in my Dell with an Intel card. The Broadcom-Sta driver is pure cancer, while iwlwifi just works like a charm.
