Who else is sick of generative AI being pushed into everything and techbros gloating about replacing software engineers? It's like they are excited about people losing their livelihoods and it's disgusting.

    What will happen:

A critical piece of software will not have the expertise or oversight of a decent software engineer. It will cause millions/billions of dollars of loss. The same techbros will write articles about how they knew this would happen. Might even kill people if in a critical enough function. A big movement to increase code quality will occur. Oversight programmers will be hired. It will be a giant cluster fuck to unfuck millions of man hours worth of code. Companies will require human coded software in certain industries.

I will say this happens in 5 years or less.

@chatgpt how likely is the following scenario and when is it supposed to happen? A critical piece of software has been maintained by AI agents without the expertise or oversight of experienced human software engineers. An error due to AI-written code will cause millions/billions of dollars of loss.

The scenario you described is highly unlikely as of now. While AI is becoming increasingly capable of handling certain tasks autonomously, the field of AI development is still heavily reliant on human oversight and expertise. Current AI systems lack the ability to fully understand complex scenarios and make critical decisions without human intervention.

If such a scenario were to occur, it would likely happen far into the future when AI systems have significantly advanced and are capable of operating without the need for human oversight. However, even in such a scenario, it is expected that there would be regulations and measures in place to prevent catastrophic errors like the one you mentioned.
