The sole reason to use Windows is gaming and MS has been actively sabotaging it as a gaming platform since the release of xbox.

So you pay for gaming and then you are bullied into buying xbox and shitty expensive console games because it’s much more profitable for MS.

The only reason why Windows isn’t completely dead now is Valve snd Steam.

@hjk101 well, everything that is gaming related on Windows is associated with xbox and you get ads for xbox and xbox services regularly.

But the greatest horseshit is that MS started to make xbox exclusive sequels to games that were typical PC games before. Like Halo.

The xbox controller also became the de facto standard on Windows. There are even games that only work with that controller and it’s a pain in the butt to make it run with any other controller.

If it were just for Valve we would be all gaming on Linux because of Proton and the Steam Deck.

@Lensflare Been gaming on linux since windows crapped the bed for me, going above decent - I think there might still be some performance degradation though

@Lensflare Halo was a long time XBox Exclusive. For me it never was a PC Game tbh

I know two modellers who use Windows because 3dsmax has never been ported to Mac, and they don't want to switch to Maya / C4D or spend five years learning the basics of Blender. Possibly that's on them as much as Autodesk, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn of other such lock-ins.
