I develop apps for a medical school. You'd think the students would be pretty bright, but it legitimately scares me that some of these people are going to perform brain surgery.

I guess the moral of the story is you're not too dumb to get that dream dev job - if these morons can be doctors, you can do what you set your mind to. And you can feel good knowing your mistakes won't kill anyone!

Unless you make a bug in autopilot software. Then you can top their kill rate easilly :-)

Yeah, I doubt there is a higher percentage of morons per student anywhere than in medicine. I once assisted the chemical lab practice for med students and what I saw there still makes me afraid to see a doctor. One guy was trying to transport hydrogen bubbles with the tube pointing up 15 times in a row, another one tried to poison the entire lab with cyanide right after tge lecture where they were told to stay away from acidic solution with KCN. Long story short, you can't be to stupid for medicine, stupidity is an entrance qualification.

Can confirm. Am currently in the dental field. I've run the gauntlet from dental labs, assisting, hygiene and dentistry and it TERRIFIES me how many people aren't ready to be responsible for peoples lives.
