I love the government sites in my country.

Guess your government has some major problems

lawl I've seen some they usually have old platforms that require that garbage (I've seen one that requires ie6) ...

For years our gov have had restricting access for ie 5.5 and up, and recomended minimum resolution of 800x600 😁. I always tried to change the user agent string... Thought it didn't work with form that required installation of ie toolnbar...
Any way now we have law that obligates gov. sites to support non comercial software and os.
I think that moving to the new generation of sites that supporting mobiles as well helped.

My country's land registry website works only in IE. What more, it's named KaPor which comes from the first letters of its full name. In my language this word also means carp.

I bet there is a conspiracy behind this....
