Sounds good, doesn't work. At least not in my country. If they ask you what your salary is and if you don't tell them, you're not getting that job. They'll ask for proof too to cross verify so you can't lie.

@aravindio in Portugal they don't check, but in case you need, they are friendly with you and normally help you out when in need

SSDD47199yWell I'm in the UK and I work for a company that turns over multiple billions per year. When I started they required a lot of "proofs". These included pay slips from my previous employer. -
SSDD47199y@AndSoWeCode it is private in the context of other staff. But not private in terms of people in your hr dept or payroll dept. They all know everything about everyone.
That's fairly standard.
