I made ambilight with RPi 2 as a project for university.
The thing is easy to make, but effect is really great.
It required OpenELEC to do that, but that made it nice smart tv substitute.
You'll need rgb led strip of course.

My boss bought us all a raspberry pi and said to do something fun with them. A week later he came back and started asking what projects people were doing that would help the organization. In our spare time... After work... Without pay...

So I took mine and promptly turned it into a retropie. Don't fuck with my feelings like that!
