An honest question

So, as the internet ( Reddit) is filled with AI haters that would probably review bomb me into the oblivion for using AI art pieces I decided to give them a chance to basically help a real artist and contribute so the game would be AI free while not losing the visual coherence and quality.

Project: Beyond The Gates
Shall I release early access so the AI haters can buy the game and every single cent will be paying an artist to replace the AI art?

Sure, do I have the approx the โ‚ฌ50K to hire someone who will produce the 500 Card images and the 350+ UI elements that doesn't look crap?

I will not make a crap because someone is hurt by AI, I would gladly do it with an artist but as I said I don't have money for it.
I think this mentality ONLY benefits the large corporations which does have the money for the 100+ artists and pushing indies to produce crap.

If you already have the graphics and they look great, replacing them just to please AI haters would be insane. Keep them.

Make a transparent statement:
Your game uses AI to help you with the graphics, not for coding the game for you.
This will hopefully make clear that it's not AI slop.

I agree here. People lost the ability to believe that someone might actually do something in a good faith.
I am not making the game for any financial reasons anyways, and would genuinely feel good to pay artists with profit. But I can't change how people operate, and the general untrust.
I could even make a public website that would literally show what is still to be replaced, what is waiting, and even cc the artist who was comisioned for it.

I think the idea is great, but people get crazy when they read the word AI. It's almost impossible to even mention it without being nailed to the wall. Rationality is out of the window. There seems no solution for that.

I don't know how to approach. It should be disclosed on steam, do I say first sentence "AI IN GAME" or just be chill about it?

Don't ask me, I'm the last person to ask to promote something, especially AI. It's because AI opinions from many people are so shallow that I can't normally react to it. So, I have no idea how to convince people for it.

I would not care and release it with AI but still disclose it.

AI-haters will not buy a game with AI assets, neither code nor art. You cannot get review bombed if they do not buy the game in the first place.

If you release your game on steam, you won't get any sales anyway (with no marketing)... At that point, that is just playing the lottery. You are better off spending a bit of money on marketing than on an human artist if you want to see some revenue. Most gamers are fine with AI art if it looks like quality and it does not look "typical AI slop"

Most AI slop games are just the same games as before, but then people called them asset flips. Most Asset Flip-games were low quality qua gameplay also.

Just keep in mind that you now compete against more and more freshly released games on steam so good luck standing out. Get a following first online.

Also @blindxfish, what is your goal with the game? Do you want it to become a financial hit? A learning project? A hobby project that you really enjoyed making?

I want to have some players that would justify making the version 2. :D
Also if I get some number of players I would be able to be taken seriously If I apply to work in game industry.
The money would pay artist for next one.
