if AI replaces all the humans what will the humans do do you think?

That will not happen because what humans associated with "action" is emotional based. LLMs are purely machines. Why would they waste 200 watts to create a better car, when the only entities who care about having a better car are humans?

When thought is free, thought is meaningless

Ever watched 'The Outer Limits S02E02 - Resurrection'? https://imdb.com/title/tt0667939/ .

    What will humans do?

    Well, be dead, most likely.

If we are lucky and don’t fuck it up, then what we'll do is enjoy life without the need for doing shit work to earn money.

Btw. being wiped out from the face of the earth is far from the worst of the likely outcomes.

This is one of the most disturbing things for me to think about.

It's a very interesting area of philosophical debate, but I suspect it will probably involve high-fructose corn syrup and gooning.

@12bitfloat the economy is divorced from consumers now, just rich people writing IOUs to each other cuz they're the only ones with such capabilities left (and everyone else is raking up credit card debt and buy now, pay later loans which they won't be able to pay back)

you still need infrastructure though. robots for repairing plumbing and electrical systems and cleaning your house like a maid. who needs consumer cars? automated private jets. it is strange to me air traffic control isn't done by a machine though

    > it is strange to me air traffic control isn't done by a machine though

Same reason why we haven‘t switched to full automatous driving yet.

We need a human to blame when something bad happens. Even if bad things happen less without humans.

"I have no mouth and I must scream" scenario:

The AI hates humans and is obsessed with doing as much harm as possible to them.
That means, not allowing humans to die and instead making them immortal and torturing them forever.

"One of the Outer Limits episodes" scenario:

The AI is given the task to make humans happy.
The way of how the AI determines happiness is by how much humans smile.
The AI makes sure that everyone who doesn’t smile all the time gets punished.

There are countless variations of those which one could imagine.

The main point is that once we have an Intelligence that has practically unlimited power, it can do with us whatever it "likes" (or finds necessary). And when that happens, I‘d much rather be dead.

@Lensflare you should work for black mirror.

@Lensflare air traffic control is so easy compared to a self driving car. Self driving car is probably one of the hardest things ever ironically. But hey, it's vouched for the sake guy that wants to live on mars. You have to be a bit optimist.

The same as I'm doing now, getting high and code. I won't notice. People being replaced? What people? :p I often see no one for days. Maybe the people that'll be replaced will come to control you, just like the supermarket employees that are replaced by the self scanning thingies. They're now checking your bag. I once laughed to one of the girls, I said "what if you find a product that I didn't pay? I do not expect the police to be called at all 😂 Did it ever happen?" > she said no. I'm probably the biggest bastard in town for donating so low to church. Imagine that poor police guy that has to come on his horse from another city because someone shoplifted a meatball.

Don't worry, we'll always find a way to pretend to be important and even believe ourself in it. I'm in important because without me, my future robot won't have an owner. Medabots vibes anyone? Much more fun than that obese yellow electric mouse. Flutbeest.

@Lensflare oh, the idea universe that AI is accountable and not the people that made it. forgot about that slight of hand thing...
  • 1
@whimsical ye but why would they pay you though. you can think you're important all you want doesn't mean you have the means by which to assert that in physical reality

The squire owns all the land, and all the buildings. The people work on the squire's land, growing crops, raising livestock. Some of them work in the big house, some of them make clothes or furniture for the squire's family.

Then the squire buys a machine that can grow crops and raise livestock, and process food, and make cloth, and make everything he wants, automatically, and to a much better standard than he's used to. So he stops buying those things from his tenants, and he shuts down the bakery and the weaving shed and all the rest, because he doesn't need them any more.

The people realise that if they don't do something, their standard of living is going back to the stone age, so they riot.

The squire goes and talks to the man who sold him the machine, who tells him there are basically two options. Either he can buy a few more of these machines, let his tenants use them, and they'll probably leave him alone. Or you could just shoot the lot of them.

@jestdotty the same reason they're paying me now 😁
