Most embarrassing and lucky moment on the first week of job.
Me and my best friend were selected in the same company as developers. I was having some trouble with my system. So I mailed the description to our support department. Pop up was displayed from our chat client and person on the other end happened to be a lady. She wanted me to share a team viewer link with click access. So I did it and within 2 minutes of efforts she solved it. I thanked her, closed the chat conversation and started installing few packages. Meanwhile, I was curious to see her as she was really nice throughout the conversation. So I opened LinkedIn, searched for her name and found her profile. I zoomed in her photo and she was a pretty chick. I didn't stop and found her on FB too, and quickly saw all her DPs. I just copied her profile URL and sent it to my friend ( the one that got selected with me ) and told him about my conversation with her. Then I asked my friend
"She's hot. Should I send her a friend request or have to find some more troubles in my pc and talk to her few more times ? :P "
He replied "Dude what are you wanting for ? "
Out of no where, a pop up showed up. It was the girl we were talking about. The exact message was
"You can now close your team viewer session, and we can talk over FB :)"

The first time I realized I wasn't as good as I thought I was when I met the smartest dev I've ever known (to this day).
I was hired to manage his team but was just immediately floored by the sheer knowledge and skills this guy displayed.
I started to wonder why they hired outside of the team instead of promoting him when I found that he just didn't mesh well with others.
He was very blunt about everything he says. Especially when it comes to code reviews. Man, he did /not/ mince words. And, of course, everyone took this as him just being an asshole.
But being an expert asshole myself, I could tell he wasn't really trying to be one and he was just quirky. He was really good and I really liked hanging out with him. I learned A LOT of things.
Can you imagine coming into a lead position, with years of experience in the role backing your confidence and then be told that your code is bad and then, systematically, very precisely, and very clearly be told why? That shit is humbling.
But it was the good kind of humbling, you know? I really liked that I had someone who could actually teach me new things.
So we hung out a lot and later on I got to meet his daughter and wife who told me that he had slight autism which is why he talked the way he did. He simply doesn't know how to talk any other way.
I explained it to the rest of the team (after getting permission) and once they understood that they started to take his criticism more seriously. He also started to learn to be less harsh with his words.
We developed some really nice friendships and our team was becoming a little family.
Year and a half later I had to leave the company for personal reasons. But before I did I convinced our boss to get him to replace me. The team was behind him now and he easily handled it like a pro.
That was 5 years ago. I moved out of the city, moved back, and got a job at another company.
Four months ago, he called me up and said he had three reasons for us to meet up.
1. He was making me god father of his new baby boy
2. That they created a new position for him at the company; VP of Engineering
and
3. He wanted to hang out
So we did and turns out he had a 4th reason; He had a nice job offer for me.
I'm telling this story now because I wanted to remind everyone of the lesson that every mainstream anime tells us:
Never underestimate the power of friendship.21 -
We were all 16 once right? When I was 16, my school had a network of Windows 2000 machines. Since I was learning java at the time, I thought learning batch scripting would be fun.
One day I wrote a script that froze input from the mouse and displayed a pop up with a scary “Critical System Error: please correct before data deletion!!”. It also displayed a five minute countdown timer, after which the computer restarted.
I may or may not have replaced the internet explorer icon on the desktop with a link to my program on the entire student lab of computers. Chaos.12 -
Just had to use Google maps for the first time in ages because nothing else was working.
It displayed a bus stop at a wrong location. I just fucking missed my bus.
Thanks for nothing, Google, go fuck yourself.14 -
It was fun to watch my entire high school (~1200 people) freak out when I ran "net send * Big brother is watching you..." on what I found to be an insecure computer in my high school's library. Every single computer in the building displayed the pop up message. The town's IT director even showed up to figure out what happened.
I was caught, but they were more happy it wasn't a hacker, and that I discovered that the IT firm the town hired totally botched properly implementing network security, so I was let off the hook.4 -
Time for an actual rant:
During an internship I heard from my PM that my assignment for the week after was going to be working on a specific sql query to add some features and fix some bugs.
When talking with colleagues about that assignment later, they laughed and referred to the query as the "query of doom" (QoD), naive as I was back then, I thought that one of my colleagues had the QoD displayed on his screen because the query he was working on looked rather large (about 20 lines). They all laughed and told me I was in for a treat.
Starting my assignment the week after I was horrified to find out the QoD was huge, and by huge I mean, printing that specific query resulted in 8 A4 pages font size 10, front and back.
There were over a 100 union statements, no proper aliases, no documentation, not a single foreign key in the entire database, naming that makes no sense. And everything written manually by 10 different developers over the past years, who all fell of the face of the earth.
And this was only the query of doom. The entire product was a complete clusterfuck of forms with a queries directly behind action buttons, because we weren't allowed to make classes (yes you read that correctly. We couldn't make classes, unless we had a very compelling reason). Everything was created by over 30 different devs who only managed to stay just long enough to get some work done.
And all of this was the result of a PM who didn't believe in frameworks, ORM's, OOP, classes, ... because that made the software slow. To this day he still manages that product, but I'm glad that I quickly decided to move on.9 -
Story time!
So me, alcoholic I am, went to a local cafe because I didn't have enough booze anymore at home. Turns out that there were quite some people that wanted to get to know me!
And most importantly, there was another sysadmin (that likely saw through my funsies with some people there that I displayed termux' apt update and apt upgrade to as "evil hacking" 😜) that actually wasn't a bluff - he pretty much interviewed me on the spot and was apparently pretty impressed by my skillset. And so am I by his - he asked some pretty techy questions that only a fellow technologist could come up with. In a local cafe of all places!!! Who would've thought?!
I'll probably be going to that cafe some more 😋18 -
I was in a public place on my laptop, and my laptop went into hibernation to save battery. I switched it back on and then the laptops BIOS came up saying that the battery was critically low, nothing bad here.
Instead of clicking continue, I decided to press "Diagnostics" instead. The diagnostics immediately began to run in the BIOS.
The screen began to show different coloured bars and patterns, obviously a screen test. Then a prompt appeared asking me if coloured bars were displayed. The options were yes and no, and a button saying "Exit" in the top right. Me, not wanting to do a full diagnostics on such a low battery, pressed exit.
The screen turned black, and then flashed red. The beeper on the motherboard began to beep at an ear-piercing volume. It sounded as if it was a bomb about to go off. Everyone around me stared and some people began to even panic. I tried switching it off by holding the power button but nothing was happening. People were just staring all around me.
After about 10 seconds, the beeping stopped and the screen displayed an error message similar to this:
"CRITICAL ERROR: Monitor test FAILED.
No user input was provided."
Moral of the story: Make your program account for all possible options.11 -

Could we have fully displayed rants ? Maybe as a setting disabled by default ?
I mean sometimes i'd like to relax and just mindlessly scroll, and having to tap to read longer rant and then tap back is, well, too much.

!!politics
My employer held a company wide zoom meeting today. It was officially optional, but like 90% of the company attended.
It started out interesting as they had invited a speaker, but it quickly degraded into a gigantic political circlejerk. It was an hour and a half of bashing everyone who doesn’t hold exactly their views, calling them evil, calling them nazis, radicals, militants, racists, etc. — and I don’t share their views, like, at all, so. That really lets me know how they feel!
As far as I can tell, everyone else at the company has the same ideology. Not only does this make me incredibly uncomfortable and require me to act and pretend at all times, it’s honestly kind of infuriating, too. The amount of insults they throw around and blatant lack of tolerance displayed by these “tolerant” people is just incredible.
To them, anyone that doesn’t hold exactly their beliefs is evil, and often a slew of other things, too. And it doesn’t seem to matter how far removed those views are; apparently libertarians are evil as well? Apparently “leave everyone alone” is evil and gets you branded as a militant far-righty? Like, how does that even work? They ascribe to “everyone who doesn’t agree with me is literally Hitler,” I guess.
Fucking hell I can’t stand these people and their politics. And when they all get going on it together? Just. Fucking toxic.
I’ve been so disgusted today after sitting in on that meeting I’ve gotten practically nothing done. And I was so hoping to finally finish this stupid ticket.
Oh, and Mr. PM wants that screwdriver to do even more things now — by next week, of course. Fucking hell.
Why did I switch jobs, again?
Right, to get away from the politics.

Worst legacy experience...
Called in by a client who had had a pen test on their website and it showed up many, many security holes. I was tasked with coming in and implementing the required fixes.
Site turned out to be Classic ASP built on an MS Access database. Due to the nature of the client, everything had to be done on their premises (kind of ironic but there you go). So I'm on-site trying to get access to code and server. My contact was *never* at her desk to approve anything. IT staff "worked" 11am to 3pm on a long day. The code itself was shite beyond belief.
The site was full of forms with no input validation, origin validation and no SQL injection checks. Sensitive data stored in plain text in cookies. Technical errors displayed on certain pages revealing site structure and even DB table names. Server configured to allow directory listing in file stores so that the public could see/access whatever they liked without any permission or authentication checks. I swear this was written by the child of some staff member. No company would have had the balls to charge for this.
Took me about 8 weeks to make and deploy the changes to client's satisfaction. Could have done it in 2 with some support from the actual people I was suppose to be helping!! But it was their money (well, my money as they were government funded!).1 -
aslkfjasf. i've spent 12 hours today (and lots more over the past two days) trying to reproduce a bug that my [sort of] coworker insists is present. I haven't seen any proof of it anywhere, let alone steps to reproduce it.
I've poured through the code, following all of its tangled noodles of madness from start to fuck-this-shit. I've read and reread the pile of demon excrement so many times i can still read the code when i close my eyes. so. not. kidding.
anyway, the coworker person is getting mad because i haven't fixed the bug after days, and haven't even reproduced it yet. This feature is already taking way too fucking long so I totally don't blame him. but urghh it's like trying to unwind a string someone tied into a tight little ball of knots because they were bored.
but i just figured out why I haven't been able to reproduce it.
the stupid fucking unreliable dipshit ex-"i'm a rockstar and my code rocks"-CTO buffoon (aka API Guy, aka the `a=b if a!=b`loody pointless waste of mixed spaces and tabs) that wrote the original APIs ... 'kay, i need to stop for breath.
The dumbfuck wrote the APIs (which I based the new ones on mostly wholesale because wtf messy?), but he never implemented a very fucking important feature for a specific merchant type. It works for literally every type except the (soon-to-be) most common one. and it just so happens that i need that very specific feature to reproduce this bug.
Why is that one specific merchant type handled so differently? No fucking idea.
But exactly how they're handled differently is why I'm so fking pissed off. It's his error checking. (Some) of his functions return different object types (hash, database object, string, nullable bool, ...) depending on what happened. like, when creating a new gift, it (eventually...) either returns a new Gift object or a string error basically saying "ahhh everything's broken again!" -- which is never displayed, compared against, or recorded anywhere, ofc. Here, the API expects a Hash. That particular function call *always* returns a Hash, no matter what happens in the myriad, twisting, and interwoven branches the code could take. So the check is completely pointless.
EXCEPT. if an object associated with another object associated with the passed object (yep) has a type of 8. in which case, one of the methods in the chain returns a PrintQueue that gets passed back up the call stack. implicitly, and nested three levels in. ofc.
And if the API doesn't get its precious Hash, it exclaims that the merchant itself is broken, and tells the user to contact support. despite, you know, the PrintQueue showing that everything worked perfectly. In fact, that merchant's printer will be happily printing away in the background.
All because type checking is this guy's preferred method of detecting errors. (Raise? what's that? OOP? Nah, let's do diverging splintered-monolithic with some Ruby objects thrown in.)
just.
what the crap.
people should keep their mental diarrhea away from their keyboards.
Anyway. the summary of this long-winded, exhaustion-fueled tirade is that our second-most-loved feature doesn't work on our second-most-common merchant type.
and ofc that was the type of merchant i've been testing on. for days. while having both a [semi] coworker and my boss growing increasingly angry at me for my lack of progress.
It's also a huge feature, and the boss doesn't understand that. (can't or won't, idk)
So.
yep.
that's been my week.

Proud of my dad today.
He used to be the type of person who installs any application/software without reading what's being displayed on the screen. And my browsers used to be filled with all those toolbars and random search engines.
But yesterday when he was installing an app on his phone, he came to me asking "why does this app need access to contacts. It shouldn't require them in the first place".
I've succeeded in my mission.

Today I found the reason for one of the stupidest bugs I had in like.. ever!
Me and a fellow student are currently porting the infoscreen of our university to HTML.
One of the functions of this screen is showing payed advertising and I was working on loading and displaying the images of our advertisment partners.
I had the whole system in place, and the images loaded.. but they wouldn't show. Upon inspection I saw they were displayed but with a size of 0x0 px.
I spend hours searching the web for javascript bugs, double checking my css file and everything you could imagine. I even asked my CS professor for help and he didn't find the cause for this strange issue I had.
..and then I saw it. A little note in Chromes inspector saying the image style would be set by my user-agent. Despite not trusting that information, I closely inspected my browser.
And then it dawned on me.. I would turn my adblocker off and lo and behold.. it worked!
I then, after celebrating my triumph, changed the tag of the img element from 'advert' to something else…3 -
QA: When I open the app I get this strange error message that includes "No data connection could be established" near the start of it.
Me: I'll clean up how thats displayed, but the error means your phone doesn't have internet connection.
QA: No that can't be it, I do.
Me: You screenshot shows no WiFi or 3g / 4g symbols.
QA: No those are never there, please investigate.
Me: I have investigated and found that every other one of your screenshots had a WiFi or a 3g symbol. Example: <link>. Please check your connection and try again, i'll clean up the error display.
PM: Oh i've had an issue something like this before. We really need to show users an error screen. We can't just leave them on this screen with no error message at all.
Me: ... we have an error, thats what QA is complaining about, its not loading the text and displaying the error object.
Anyone else want to not pay attention and complain about something else that doesn't make sense? ... no? ... ok good, back to work then6 -

Fuck Twitter.
I get sucked in for 10 minutes through some news article, and my blood is boiling.
I think the platform does not even deserve to exist.
And I didn't think I would ever say that.
I used to be a staunch defender of the free & open internet, even with it's ugly and extreme sides, because I was convinced the good would outshine the evil.
I displayed the Pirate flag with pride on the mast outside of my house, I was intimately involved in the founding of their political party in my country. I was convinced of the power of the internet, I believed it would empower democracy and debate.
So why do simple tweets, even just the ones about technology, incite an endless stream of vile ultranationalist & misogynist hate?
How is it that those who are reasonable get drowned out?
That fucking character limit is a cancer.
The orator's wings are clipped. The richness of language is wilting before our eyes. All that remains are a bunch of caged chickens pecking every argument to death.
I will defend the right to free speech, even when it comes to the most disagreeable and controversial opinions.
But Twitter does not promote free speech. It's poison to free speech.
It's an endless torrent of non sequiturs, which constricts all reason and intellect. It replaces free speech by pretending to have equal value.
I really don't care if you are left or right, socialist or libertarian, globalist or nationalist.
You can argue to me that we should close all borders for immigrants, that Apple makes great products, that genocide has its pros, you could try to convince me that Heineken tastes acceptable (sorry AlexDeLarge), that Linux should be outlawed or that we should really try to bring this Eugenics thing back again.
Just be fucking rational -- and "Rationality implies the conformity of one's beliefs with one's reasons to believe"
You can NOT fit both your beliefs and their supporting reasons in 140 or even 280 characters.
So what's left is just your beliefs.
Stripped of all reason.
Repeat it often enough, keep spewing, keep throwing out incomplete arguments, and you'll train yourself to forego ratio in your convictions completely.
All social platforms should get a forced captcha for every spelling/grammar error, and a 1000 character minimum.
The world would be a slightly better place.6 -
My parents are real sticklers for who is allowed to be on Netflix. They only let people on when they are present, and they never click 'save password'.
Me being a poor college student and desperate for the Netflix password, created a fake website for one of my parents to sign into.
How did I do this? I created my own localhost server with a backend database for the password to go to. I then copied the Netflix home screen and log in and asked them to log me into their account.
They said I can be on for one hour, and then they were signing me out.
I agreed to these terms.
As a small twist, I had also copied the no internet tab from Chrome for the page to redirect to. Knowing that once they logged in they would be expecting the main UI.
They logged in and then waited for the page to load. I, of course, put in a delay for the page to load and then displayed the no internet tab. They were confused and asked me to refresh, still nothing. I asked them if the router was out, and they went to check.
While they were away I quickly switched back to the real Netflix website and yelled back saying I got it working again. They came back over and saw that it was asking for a password again. They signed in and saw the main homepage and none were the wiser that day.
Once they left I checked inside the DB and found the plaintext password they typed in... The damn password was so simple, I cursed myself for not having figured it out sooner. No matter, I had my parents Netflix password.
So you're probably wondering how they didn't see the URL above and think something was off?
I pressed F11 and fullscreened my entire browser. They did ask, and I simply replied with, I don't like seeing all the crap up above when I'm streaming. No further questions, perhaps I was lucky.14 -
Customer: The pages x and y are not displayed in the menu of my website.
Me: I've added another menu level. This level wasn't planned. Your pages will now be displayed.
Customer: Do you think I have too much menu levels?
Me (what I want to say): YES. You have too much of EVERYTHING! Too much menu levels, too much useless pages, too much bad formatting, too much different font colors in one fucking sentence! Your website is crap at all.
Me (what I said): No, it's okay.

So, I'm using a new MacBook Air (running Sierra), and while I'm still getting used to it (especially the different Sublime hotkeys), overall it really is quite wonderful. I particularly love the magic touchpad and ease of scrolling/swiping between desktops.
However, I ran into an issue this morning that gave me pause: apparent file caching.
My webpack setup auto-compiles my project when files change, and I noticed something was causing errors -- not really surprising since I was in the middle of fixing the project last night. However, the error it displayed wasn't something I was expecting, and referenced a line I was positive I had removed several hours before calling it a night. Whatever, I was probably mistaken, so I went to remove it.
... It wasn't there.
I double checked that I was looking at the right file. Yep, src/styles/header.scss -- that's the correct file. Figuring webpack was acting up, I killed and restarted it.
Same error.
So whatever, maybe Sublime cached it. Rather unexpected, but possible, and I am on a mac now... so maybe. So, I closed the file and reopened it. The line wasn't there. I did this twice more. It STILL wasn't there. Maybe I'm going crazy...? I checked the file with cat. The line was there. I checked with vim. The line was still there.
OKAY. I've seen a lot of people with beef with Sublime, and I often defended it. but maybe they're actually right. maybe Sublime really isn't the way to go. :( So, I killed and reopened Sublime, and I checked the file again.
The line STILL ISN'T THERE.
Maybe I'm going crazy? I double, triple, quadruple checked the path. all correct.
Alright; let's try again and make sure I do it properly. I closed everything I had open in sublime (two projects), and quit. I reopened Sublime, navigated to the correct path, and reopened the file...
The offending line STILL wasn't there.
I'm angry at this point and just mash the keyboard. I save the resulting garbage, and cat the file again. No visible changes.
KAJSFLK STUPID PIECE OF <redacted>
okay, whatever. Reboots fix everything, right? So I reboot, and keep the option to re-open everything again ticked.
The terminal comes back up, along with half(?) my browsers, but Sublime doesn't. grrrrrrr.
so I cat the damn thing.
GUESS WHAT.
THE GARBAGE IS THERE.
Sublime was doing its job. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE FAILED.
(Oh Sublime, why did I ever question you? 💚)
... but seriously, what the fuck could have caused that? Was the OS caching the file for some programs, but not others? Now I'm questioning the macbook...23 -
3 person help desk shop for 450 users. One of my tasks is procurement.
Customer: we need a portable monitor that takes up less desk space than the one you typically have us buy
Me: at the conference last week we displayed the upgraded model of that portable monitor which takes up half the desk space. It’s $250 instead of the $150 that you normally would pay.
Customer: that ones too expensive, find me something else.
Me: unfortunately not too many companies make portable monitors and since AOC is unreliable in quality we have been recommending Asus, who only makes those two models that I’ve shown you.
Customer: I want the AOC one anyways. You shouldn’t have shown the more expensive one because now my staff want it and I can’t get it. If everyone can’t afford it you shouldn’t have it available.
Me: I understand your frustration, we have recommended that more expensive one as an option for people who have special accommodations for eye care and as an alternative if people dislike the current model. Since it’s not required that you purchase it and since we do have a much less expensive option we will continue to recommend it. As for the AOC one we will allow you to purchase it but will not be supporting or repairing it.
Customer: Can we get this instead? *sends link to $989 pre tax off brand version of Razer Project Valeria*5 -

I’m adding some fucking commas.
It should be trivial, right?
They’re fucking commas. Displayed on a fucking webpage. So fucking hard.
What the fuck is this even? Specifically, what fucking looney morons can write something so fucking complicated it requires following the code path through ten fucking files to see where something gets fucking defined!?
There are seriously so fucking many layers of abstraction that I can’t even tell where the bloody fucking amount transforms from a currency into a string. I’m digging so deep in the codebase now that any change here will break countless other areas. There’s no excuse for this shit.
I have two options:
A) I convert the resulting magically conjured string into a currency again (and of course lose the actual currency, e.g. usd, peso, etc.), or
B) Refactor the code to actually pass around the currency like it’s fucking intended to be, and convert to a string only when displaying. Like it’s fucking intended to be.
Impossible decision here.
If I pick (A) I get yelled at because it’s bloody wrong. “it’s already for display” they’ll say. Except it isn’t. And on top of that, the “legendary” devs who wrote this monstrosity just assumed the currency will always be in USD. If I’m the last person to touch this, I take the blame. Doesn’t matter that “legendary Mr. Apple dev” wrote it this way. (How do I know? It’s not the first time this shit has happened.) So invariably it’ll be up to me to fix anyway.
But if I pick (B) and fix it now, I’ll get yelled at for refactoring their wonderful code, for making this into too big of a problem (again), and for taking on something that’s “just too much for me.” Assholes. My après Taco Bell bathroom experiences look and smell better than this codebase. But seriously, only those two “legendary” devs get to do any real refactoring or make any architecture decisions — despite many of them being horribly flawed. No one else is even close to qualified… and “qualified” apparently means circle jerking it in Silicon Valley with the other better-than-everyone snobs, bragging about themselves and about one another. MojoJojo. “It was terrible, but it fucking worked! It fucking worked!” And “I can’t believe <blah> wanted to fix that thing. No way, this is a piece of history!” Go fuck yourselves.
So sorry I don’t fit in your stupid club.
Oh, and as an pointed, close-at-hand example of their wonderful code? This API call I’m adding commas to (it’s only used by the frontend) uses a json instance variable to store the total, errors, displayed versions of fees/charges (yes they differ because of course they do), etc. … except that variable isn’t even defined anywhere in the class. It’s defined three. fucking. abstraction. layers. in. THREE! AND. That wonderful piece of smelly garbage they’re so proud of can situationally modify all of the other related instance variables like the various charges and fees, so I can’t just keep the original currency around, or even expect the types to remain the same. It’s global variable hell all over again.
Such fucking wonderful code.
I fucking hate this codebase and I hate this fucking company. And I fucking. hate. them.7 -
Pro Tip: if you're building a developer REST API, don't forget to add a sample response to each endpoint. I don't want to have to test each one when I'm building my integration, I'd rather build my model in one go with the documentation displayed on a second monitor.6

TL;DR; I unfucked a micro sd used by a nintendo switch with one command: fsck
I had noticed that the nintendo switch displayed way more storage usage then it should. I didn't mind at first, but at some point I couldn't download any games. When I checked I saw some ridiculous storage usage.
According to the system, all games summed up ~20Gb, but >100Gb was in use? Sounds retarded, so I did the following:
* Plugged it into laptop
* Spend one our searching for a way to to access this seemingly unknown filesystem
* Find out this filesystem is actually exFAT
* Find out that 2/3 sd adapters suck
* check filesystem with dust (A visually more pleasing version of du)
* Find 20Gb of files, nothing hidden or whatever
* run fsck
* "File system contains some errors want me to fix then?"
* "Sure"
* check usage
* 17%
As for the reason why this happened in the first place, my guess is that the switch labels the whole segment of the card as used before downloading a game and it something goes wrong, it shits itself.
Anyways, fsck is a pretty useful command.

I work for "a" company. This company has completely broken my desire to improve user experiences.
For instance, they have fetishized reducing the amount of clicks users have to go through to improve user productivity. Normally this is good, in their grossly mutated views, not so much.
They want ALL the data on a single page, and want people to use ctrl+f to find whatever they want on these pages instead of, ya know, a site-wide search(which fucking exists).
So this makes page times and UX horrible, some pages will take upwards of 2 minutes to completely load. 2 fucking minutes! My team and I had reduced these down to 15 seconds by reducing the data displayed and paginating it using some awesome JS lazy load functions. Not great by any real metric, but still a huge improvement.
You know who uses it out of 400 employees? Me. You know who still constantly gets complaints that the pages load really fuckin slowly? Still me!
Fuck these dumb asses and their retarded ideologies. They are stuck so far up 1990s ass they can practically TASTE Clintons' taint.
The culture is so toxic for developers it's absolutely abhorrent and depressing.
There is no freedom to do what you need to do because you're too busy doing the things they ask you to do. Follow that up with quarterly performance reports that bring up questions like, "What do you do for us?".
The only positive to working in this shithole is that they wouldn't dare fire you because they would never find anyone that would stay long enough to become an expert on this pile of shit. Over the last year we have gone through an entire 16 dev team, twice. That's 36 developers that just straight up quit in 12 months, and it's not like any of them worked together either. I would say 3-4 out of the first group met the second group, and 1-2 stuck around for the current group.
I don't normally rant like this, but I've been holding this shit in for a very long time and I can't hold it in.3 -

I'm soon graduating from a tech/IT school which recently specialized in cybersecurity.
Today when I changed my password on their website, it displayed the old one in clear text.
God damn it people, THIS is the reason why our school's reputation has been slowly but steadily going down.

New position at work. Lots of power in regards to tech stacks of my choice.
I feel like Neo.
First project was finished in a week using Clojure. A basic application that would automate the process of adding our students into a particular active directory system in which many other things happen at the same time including updates to pins and other shit as well as networking and wifi permissions. Works fast as fuuuuuuuuuck, the alternative existed(somewhat) in php and while there was nothing wrong other than speed I wanted to show the head of my department what i could do.
It was anticlimactic as fuck. I thought it was gonna take me longer. It fucking didn't and i am glad as shit. It is now working like an absolute powerhouse in its own environment and being monitored by the sys admins, they loved how easy it was to deploy and how well behaved it is.
The head of the department is impressed as fuck and the board of directors got a hold of it. Reason being that I am being displayed as some sort of wizard that used ancient alien tech in the 21st century.
Fuck yes, major win.
I also get to add Clojure to my resumee. Hod even said that if needed be they will rethink my salary to add the fact that i get to use this tech where no one else can.11 -
Worked with a European consulting company to integrate some shared business data (aka. calling a service).
VP of IT called an emergency meeting (IT managers, network admins) deeply concerned about the performance of the international web site since adding our services.
VP: “The partner’s site is much slower than ours. Only common piece that could cause that is your service.”
Me: “Um, their site is vastly different than ours. I don’t think we can compare their performance to ours.”
VP: “Performance is #1! I need your service fixed ASAP!”
Me: “OK, but what exactly is slow? How did you measure their site? The servers are in Germany”
VP: “I measured performance from my house last night.”
Me: “Did you use an application?”
VP: “<laughs> oh no, I was at home. When I opened the page, I counted one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi, then the page displayed.”
Me: “Wow…um…OK…uh…how long does our page take to load?”
VP: “Two Mississippi’s”
Me: “Um…wow…OK…wow…uh, no, we don’t measure performance like that, but I’ll work with our partners and develop a performance benchmark to determine if the shared service is behaving differently.”
VP: “Whatever it is, the service is slow. Bill, what do you think is slowing down the service?”
NetworkAdmin-Bill: “The Atlantic Ocean?”
VP got up and left the meeting.2 -
We needed a design for our Android and iOS App, everything should be done by an award-winning design agency. What we received was only a design for iPhone X. Only mockups as PDF, no icons, nothing. So we requested the Android design and an iPhone 8 one including icons, color codes and whatnot.
1 FUCKING MONTH LATER we got the new designs... They are all the FUCKING SAME DESIGN where some mockups were "displayed" on an android phone, and some on an iPhone. Still no icons though.
3 weeks pass and we geht FUCKING sketch files, to extract the shit ourselves. Thank you for nothing.
It took again nearly 3 month to get a "proper" Android design and all the assets. You could clearly see, that they never did anything for Android but well, we had to work with it. Award-winning design agancy my ass.5 -

I managed to accidentally clear everybody's usernames and email addresses from an SQL table once. I only recovered it because a few seconds before, I'd opened a tab with all the user data displayed as an HTML table. I quickly copied it into Excel, then a text editor (saving multiple times!), then managed to write a set of queries to paste it all back in place. If I'd refreshed the tab it would have all gone!2

I remember a few months ago at my school we all had taken the Chromebooks (our county's OS of choice) out and put them on our desks. We were in science, and we needed to take screenshots of websites for some reason. "Everyone go to the chrome store," our teacher said, with a look-how-smart-i-am kind of look on her face, "search for the 'Awesome Screenshot Extension.'" Ugh. This was dumb. I reluctantly searched it up and upon bringing up the description and about to press the "Add to Chrome" button, when I stopped, and made a decision I would later regret. Now, I don't really like this teacher, and she thought she was so fucking smart for finding this shit extension. I raised my hand, and she walked over. "Uhh… I'm pretty sure you can just do Ctrl + shift + []|| to take a screenshot" I said. She was fucking dumbfounded. She yelled out "Class, listen up! [Let's call me 'Ben' for this story] Ben just found an alternative [she was trying to make her extension not seem entirely useless, even though she knew it was] way to take a screenshot. Just press Ctrl + shift plus that box with the two lines next to it. You can use my extension or the one Ben found. Whichever is easier [she damn well knew which was easier]." Three times in the span of the next five minutes she said "just a reminder… you can use Ben's way if you want" to the whole class. Everyone kept looking at me. A few minutes later, she called me up to the computer which was being displayed on the big screen in front of class. She said some people were having trouble, so then pulled all the attention on me to come up to the front of class and demonstrate a goddamn keyboard shortcut. She was running windows 8, and I knew it wouldn't work on her computer. I pressed a few random keys on the keyboard and said "uhh, I think it only works on their computers" she let me sit back down. She couldn't handle the concept that different computers run different operating systems. I sat down and the guy sitting next to me raised his hand. He said "you could use the 'snippet tool'" Yes. Some people can. But she can't. I stopped him from doing anymore damage on their small brains by saying "uhh, it won't work on the Chromebooks, so that won't help." I hate that teacher. At lunch my friend came over to me. He has the same science teacher as me. "You know what she's been saying all day?" I was confused. "What?" I said. He almost started to laugh. "All day she's [the teacher] has been telling everyone that you found this amazing new technology in the Chromebooks. [Most of the students were smart enough to know that I didnt] she was like 'Ben, from my 2nd period found this amazing thing'" End of story. And guess what? I still hate her.3

http://europarl.europa.eu/news/en/...
"Parliament’s position toughens the Commission’s proposed plans to make online platforms and aggregators liable for copyright infringements. This would also apply to snippets, where only a small part of a news publisher’s text is displayed. In practice, this liability requires these parties to pay right holders for copyrighted material that they make available. Parliament’s text also specifically requires that journalists themselves, and not just their publishing houses, benefit from remuneration stemming from this liability requirement.
At the same time, in an attempt to encourage start-ups and innovation, the text now exempts small and micro platforms from the directive."
So is devRant as a small platform exempted from this or would I or dfox have to pay to get people interested to read their link now? 🤔5 -

Two years ago, I started to learn Ruby on Rails so I would at last know a server language even though it wasn't the almighty PHP. Two years ago minus a few months, I decided to put my first website online with Apache and Passenger. It took me a whole six hours with stress and cries for help until I finally saw my website's homepage displayed on my screen
Today, after a few more websites (and currently 3 more projects but still not released, dang it), I tried to update mySQL to 5.7 since I need it to be able to save arrays for a future project, but everything went full shitstorm with broken packages and lame-ass-shit tutorials that make you doubt your sanity.
So I decided to backup my database and my online websites and to reinstall the whole server and take advantage of it to update the current used gems (Rails 4.2 -> 5.1, not bad)
Not only it took me just a bit more than 2 hours to redeploy the websites, but I didn't felt at the edge of panicking once, and now everything works like a charm.
I feel fucking alpha now.2 -
I am speechless! Assigned back to a project after leaving it for four months, went to see tasks, and they are like this:
Q1. Why did't you do this for the app?
A1: Because your team has not yet provided API, how is my team supposed to implement
Q2: Why having this in the app? either x or y not both!
A2: You guys wanted both
Q3: Why is the app showing data that must not be displayed?
A3: Because your server is sending me the data based on the criteria I sent? What else do you expect
and the list goes on ....11 -

Microsoft seriously hates security, first they do enforce an numer, upper and lowercase combined with a special character.
But then they allow no passwords longer than 16 characters....
After that they complain that "FuckMicrosoft!1" is a password they've seen to often, gee thanks for the brute force tips.
To add insult to injury the first displayed "tip" take a look at the attached image.

So, i recently joined the community and must say im suprised by the lack of toxicity so probs to you people.
Anyway. I am almost finished with my internship as a Software enginieer(kind of). As my finshing presentation i made a script (mainly in Python with asciimatics(a great library btw)) wich is displayed in the Terminal (Linux Ubuntu) and as i know the kinds of people at my school i tryed to find any way they could crash it. (Already rebound the close window function from Alt + F4 to Alt+.)
Now im wondering if you; the nice people of Dev rant could suggest ways to make it safer or rather name ways you would attempt to shut it down. (i cant disable Keyboard input since that is needed to continue in the script.)
I wish you a nice day. and thanks in advance
Yours Humbly an aspiring Dev.
P.s.( i just really like to write formally. i think it sounds kind of cool.so dont you think im oldfashioned :D)13 -
Taking a database class, prof insists on using Microsoft Sql server 2014. "Okay cool" said the Microsoft surface fan boy inside me as I installed it. "Holy shit this is using 6 fucking GBs?? Eh it's okay I trust" again said my Microsoft fanboy self. Finished installing, makes queries and it works. Cool.
Go to run Sql server again next day and get an error (nothing displayed, just a box pop up and then a crash) I use some Google skills. Change a bunch of shit and still it persists. "Just uninstall it and reinstall again" says my prof. I do so except random errors during installation saying Sql already exists even though I just uninstalled it. "Maybe it's some registry keys messing with it!" do some digging, remove unneeded registry keys and try again. Installation finished but a whack of features say failed to install.
I sit and try to work this shit out for the next four hours (not paying attention to my class) and still can't get Sql to completely uninstall itself. I try iobit uninstaller, command line uninstalling, fucking everything but still not working. Slowly my fanboy side is wishing that the windows symbol on the back of my machine was an apple.
I ended up having to backup all my files and reinstalling windows to get it working properly. Holy sweet fuck. The worst part is when this class is done ill probably need to reinstall yet again to save the 6gb it's sucking up. So if you're not sure whether you need something as heavy as Microsoft Sql server or not for your application, don't use it! It's a fucking virus that is super difficult to remove.
Tldr: life long Microsoft fanboy becomes apple convert in a day of using Microsoft Sql server.

Yesterday a strange bug appeared in Chrome: In a small web app we have some umlaut characters like äöü. Strangely said characters were displayed as cyrillic, but only on my pc... On every other device it worked. I spent about 5 hours of checking encodings (everything was in UTF-8), reading posts in the almighty stackoverflow.
Finally i figured out, the font was broken. After reinstalling it, everything was peaceful again in my head. -

Is it just me or what. I had begun learning web development (but prefer C, shell scripting, Linux... ).
One thing that amazes me - besides having to learn 1356367626785576 technologies to get something done and the fact we get a fresh new amazing framework every 0.00000000000234 seconds - is CSS.
Amazing, I made a navigation bar where I wanted the items to be displayed in the horizontal position, so I
.navbar li, a {display:inline-block}
Works fine.
Next day I'm doing the same from scratch, doesn't fucking work. I look the previous design, HTML structure looks identical, I only use a different font face and colors.
After a while I randomly decided to put a <div> around the a element in order to do something else, update the page and... Voilá, text is in line.
Like... Wtf.
I'm like fuck it. No way I want to work with this shit, let's go back to shell.6 -
You may remember a super long time ago I double-buffered the Windows cmd.exe using c++
tl;dr, here it is in c!
Anyways, I was still learning c++ back then. It wasn't my first project in c++ but it was close and I ran into a lot of issues. The thing worked... but only if you didn't touch it.
Here's the same project (With a lot less bells'n'whistles) written in c. I used a different approach this time, and other than my function naming convention (Which, I honestly don't even know if it's bad or not!), I think this is some pretty solid code!
In the image you see the header file (I used as a summary of the code) and then three x's in a terminal. To do this, the code:
-Creates a ConsoleScreenBuffer handle
-Creates two CHAR_INFO buffers for drawing & displaying
-Draws three x's to the draw buffer
-Copies the draw buffer to the display buffer
-Copies the display buffer to the ConsoleScreenBuffer handle
I'm thinking about cutting out the middle man and removing the display buffer (which holds what is currently displayed) but I think it may actually be useful, and I don't know.
Anyways, I have no friends that understand this stuff so that's why it's here. Cheers.

My apprentice is driving me nuts with his failed attempts on gold-plating.
The task "Get the data and export it to a file" becomes ""After many attempts to get the data via a different query than we worked out together I now finally got it and it makes sense if it was displayed but only one set of data at a time and it should also be selected what data should be exported and I have no idea how to do that so Cero, can you help me?".
Dang it dude, just show me for once that you can do 1 clearly decribed task, where you have many examples to work with, and NOT try to add any extras!
I am now working on how to tell him this in a nicer way...2 -

Years ago at school I recreated the UNIX logon screen. With this, I collected login credentials and then displayed a message that the dish gets formatted now. tl : "hey dotenv, we have a presentation with VP tomorrow, do you want to present any of your achievements in product?"
me: "umm, what achievements ?"
tl : "you know, something that you added in app which made a good impact to various metrics like DAU, MAU, less bad reviews etc"
me: "umm... i coded the tasks and features created by you folks. they got shipped at some point of your liking, and are now being tracked by you for its success failure. So i am not sure what to take credit for"
TL: "no, no.. i mean like any bugs or issues that you fixed outside of your daily jira tasks which you tracked to be a sucess"
me: "well as far as tracking is concerned, then neither i know how to track them nor i did. but yea, i identified a bug where an outdated payload was generating bad request and giving a silent failure instead of success which recently got shipped. maybe its helping users get actual response instead of "we will get back to you in some time" , so this might get considered?
TL : "oh that? that we have already added as one of the team's achievements (=PM+TL's achievement) and have tracked it to be a succes"
me : "what th- okay. then how about that api failure which was identified by AVP as "something is not right" in which the api was intermittently taking a long time to respond. he tagged me and i set up logs to identify which type of users got that issue and the actual cause of that api failure. that was definitely a good fox for app as we ended up with good reviews on playstore for our new release?"
TL : "oh that? how can you take credit for that fix? it was identified by AVP, you just added similar logs that we were using for tracking errors and implemented a fix when it came to you as a sprint task? its a team achievement"
me : "but you guys didn't identified the cause through your logs!? my log was more granular. and even if that's the case, we aren't allowed to pick any task just as is, without getting it added to sprint , right?"
TL : "nah, that was a team win"
*6 months later, during appraisal time"
TL : "Hey dotenv, you haven't displayed any leadership skills and haven't gone put of the box to improve the product. Here's your peanut appraisal 🗑️"

Longest I've worked without rest + why?
Over 24 hours. Why?
In our old system, the database had fields, for example, a customer like Total97, Total98, etc. to store values by year (or some date-specific value).
Every January 1, we had to add fields to accommodate the upcoming year and make the appropriate code changes to handle the new fields.
One year the UPS shipping rates changed and users didn't want to 'lose' the old rates, so they wanted new fields added (Rate98, Rate99, etc) so they could compare old vs. new. That required a complete re-write of most of the underlying applications because users wanted to see the difference on any/all applications that displayed a shipping rate. I'll throw in asking 'why?' was often answered with "because we pay you to do what we say". Luckily, we had already gotten to work on a lot of this before January 1st, so we were, for the most part, ready.
January 1st rolls around (we had to be in the office at 3:00AM), work thru changes, spend some time testing, and be done before noon. That didn't happen. The accounting system was a system that wasn't in (and had never been) in scope, and when we flipped the switch, one of the accountants comes into the office:
E: "Guys? None of our Excel spreadsheets are working. They are critical to integration with the accounting software"
Us: "What? Why would you be using Excel to integrate with the software instead of their portal?"
E: "We could never figure it out, so we had a consultant write VBA scripts to do the work."
Us: "OK, a lot of fields changed, but shouldn't be a big deal. How many spreadsheets are we talking about?"
E: "Hundreds. We have a separate spreadsheet for every integration point. The consulting company said it scalable, whatever that means."
Us: "What?! Why we just know hearing about this!?"
E: "Don't worry, the consultant said making changes would be easy, let me show you, just open the spreadsheet..click here..<click><click><click>...ignore that error, it always happens...click that <click><click><click>.."
Us: "Oh good lord, this is going to take hours"
E: "Ha! Probably. All this computer stuff is your job and I've got a family to get to. Later"
Us: "Hey 'VP of IS', can we go home and fix these spreadsheets as-needed this week?"
VP-IS: "Let me check with 'VP-FS'"
<few minutes later>
VP-IS: "No, he said Excel is critical to running their department. We stay until Excel is fixed."
Us: "No, no...its these spreadsheets. I doubt FS needs all of them tomorrow morning."
VP-IS: "That's what I said. Spreadsheets, Excel, same thing. I'll order the pizza. Who likes pepperoni!?"
At least he didn't cheap out on the pizza (only 4 of us and he ordered 6 large, extra pepperoni from one of the best pizza places in town)
One problem after another and we didn't get done until almost 6:00AM. Then...
VP-IS: "Great job guys. I've scheduled a meeting at 8:00AM to review what we did so we can document the process for next year. You've got a couple of hours. Feel free to get some breakfast and come back, or eat the left over pizza in the breakroom fridge. There is a lot left"
Us: "Um...sorry...we're going home."
VP-IS: "WHAT!!...OK...fine. I'll schedule the meeting for 12"
Us: "No...we're going home. We'll see you tomorrow." -
for your next edition of "TI's constantly been smoking crack since the 80s and has no intention of ever stopping":
the TI-8x calculators have a hardware buffer and an OS-provided buffer for screen data, effectively being an "immediate" buffer in hardware, to be displayed next VBlank, and a "slower" buffer, being what's copied to the "immediate" buffer when the OS decides it's time to update the screen. All well and good, maybe a little weirdly done but all in all makes sense. (You can even define a third buffer in RAM if you need to triple-buffer your shit.)
The problem arises when you use TI-BASIC and try to draw to the screen:
If you do something like, say, draw a circle, you'll notice that it's visibly drawn to the screen one pixel at a time. However, looking through what bits of the SDK I can find, the OS' "draw circle" assembly routine *doesn't update the immediate buffer!*
This means that, in TI-BASIC, the "draw circle" routine doesn't use the ACTUAL circle-drawing routine the OS provides, but instead individually calculates and plots a pixel, then updates the hardware buffer (an ENTIRE 768 bytes are copied EVERY TIME) and waits for VBlank to pass before repeating for the next one. In other words, it's deliberately slow as fuck.
Why? All the drawing commands, outside of like 2 or 3, do this. Why would you deliberately slow down the process of drawing to the screen on a system that you KNEW would be popular for people to code on???7 -
Wtf firefox ? are you serious ?
I made an extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/...) that uses the Storage API to store preferences. In their website the permission section it displayed "Access your data for all websites". Some guy gave 1 star and let this message "This does not need all my browsing information."

I am currently a high school student. I am currently working in an internship for a local company. Super nice mentors and owner.
Anyhow, I was working on turning sensors data into JSON files which would be later sent to a server through HTML GET requests. I struggled with this for several days. The server received the data but displayed them as 'null'. Mentor came in to help. He changed 'println' to 'print' in the code where the JSON data are compiled. Then the thing works.

Last year during my HTML/CSS exam, there was a question requested that items should be displayed in the center of the screen and move outwards as you add in to them.
There were three given IDs for the divs. Left, right and main. So what I did to reduce the amount of code written(mind you this is written on paper). I just used the main class wrapped it inside a container and then did what the question was asked and achieved the same result. My teacher still gave me 0 points even though I provided a solution better than what most other students actually did. His reason was, you should've done as I said.
And yes, yes we're writing our coding exams on paper.8 -

Curious interview process for a job I was denied for. I was told to create an app for a "case study" I was given a week it was supposed to be a single activity sports app written in MVVM with a specific API. I turned in a single activity, 3 fragment application, that made queries and displayed results from that specific API as well as told the weather and in quirky quotes told you whether or not it was a good idea to go tailgating. When I got to the interview after turning it in a day early they said they loved the application, hounded me on code (all questions in which I answered) and they told me that I would get word on next steps within the next few days. Obviously I didn't get that job as earlier stated however, does this not seem weird?3

Ibwish I had remembered this when the weekly theme was office pranks.
In the first or second year of high school we covered basic internet security. Stuff like don't follow suspicious urls, don't open suspicious emails and such.
Our teacher let us play around with some sort of simulated desktop environment, where we could execute some hacks like ad popups and such on each other's environment, if we fell for the trap.
Anyways, one hack I found interesting was a hack, that lockes a user out of their virual desktop, until he enters a password, that will be displayed on his environment.
Yes, a very interesting hack, because it contains two obvious yet major design flaws, which I could exploit 😈
1. It's case sensitive
In itself not a problem, but combined with #2, it's fatal.
2. "IlIlllIlI"
Depending on your font, you probably have no idea what exactly I just typed.
Let's just say, the font displayed uppercase i and lowercase L completely undifferentiable.
Guess whom I let suffer.
It was our teacher, who had to demonstrate us some things and who was connected to the same network.
I swear, nothing beats that feeling when your tearcher has go come to you and embarrassingly ask you to "unhack" them, because they can't type it 😂1 -
I regret moving to backend. I loved the days when I used to write lines of code and refresh my browser for the changes to be displayed on the screen. I loved seeing the output of my code, the code flow, the light weight text editor, the visual satisfaction and the chrome debugger.
Now I am fucked up, I am working on creating microservices for restful api. I am hating everything about it. The fact that I should compile the entire war, manually copy them to a webapp folder, restart my tomcat and wait for 5 minutes just to see my code, and the text editors are just a pain in the ass, the debugger sucks too.
I was so looking forward to being a backend Dev because I thought Java was cool and I also was fedup with cross browser optimizations on the front end. Now I would gladly write a streaming service foe ie6. Spring has fucked me up so hard
God save me from this mess.6 -
Today salesmen gave me some recommendations about my "so hardly optimized" SQL queries..suggestin me to change em.. I said okay, let's execute these.. 10 hours later, their computers sql workbenches finally displayed the fucking first one.
Result: 0 row... 🤐2 -
Does anyone else have an issue with Noticed where sometimes the same username is displayed but it's actually different people?

I was walking in the cineplex after watching a movie today and saw an advertisement for "a digital loyalty card platform for retail outlets. Get loyalty cards on your phone!" being used by a big brand in my country.
The thing is, although not a terribly original idea, I first thought of developing a system/platform like this all the way back in 2012. I coded it, I advertised, I lobbied HARD; I poured my damn soul into this thing. Nobody accepted it. I scrapped it because I thought it was just not a good idea, only to see what is essentially a clone of it being shown off and lauded as a brand new innovative solution.
I won't lie, seeing that ad so prominently and proudly displayed really crushed me. I honestly don't know what makes their rendition better than mine, since mine did pretty much the same thing theirs does and my design chops are pretty much on par with theirs. I was rejected and I don't know why and that stings more than the countless other times my other ideas were shot down because of market mismatch, logistical flaws or just shortsightedness on the part of potential customers.
This isn't an invitation to a pity party, and I can't say there is a moral to this little anecdote, but I feel moved to share this experience with you guys.
Pick from it and learn what you will, I hope this falls under the eyes of the right person out there.5 -
Apparently some smart shithead decided to override ctrl+f browser behavior when you edit files directly on github.
Edit renders only part of file and displays search under edit file label that disappears every time you find something. ( what if there is more then one occurrence smartass )
Default ctrl+f can’t find text on page unless it’s displayed.
Thanks morons.3 -
my fist job... i get to edit a c++ code written by a (mind you) programming company that they teamed with for the past(mind you again) 3 years ...
now just for starters, this code was edited by self taught coders that are really good engineers(they are really good), that didnt really know how the code worked before yet they still changed it, and it worked, how ever they wanted some changes.
i get the project files, and there is not one single comment describing what is happening... only code commented out... and no documentation what so ever were done....
so below are some of my comments that i wrote after i finished adding what i had to add, and fixing what i had to fix:
/*first rule of C anything coding, no actual functions in the header, well let me introduce you to a fully functioning thread running program all in the header, enjoy*/
//used to control the thread
// i honestly dont know why, but it worked soooooo yea...
// TG uncommented // for absolutely no reason what so ever...
//used to communicate with the port
//the message to be sent to the inverter, which has a code that will handle it
//hmmmmmm...
//again not usefull since we are using radioButtons
// same ...
// same ...
// same ...
// they said they dont even use this mode, but none the less, same ...
// calculate the checksum for the message

"Help" messages that are only shown once are not so helphul.
Some software and websites have help pop-ups and tooltips that are only displayed on the first use and then never again. There is no option to show it again.
That is a terrible idea, because the user might want to see it again as a reminder.
Showing something to the user only once means expecting the user to memorize it all at once.8 -
we(Friends) discovered this yesterday.
Steps:
1. created a file.js and added a console.
2. renamed the file.js to file.java
3. ran that file.java through node
result: displayed in that image.
Javascript running .java .....seriously?
js how many hidden surprises you have for me. it was even running in .txt, .php etc
Okay let's come to actual point .
I tried to research on this. however, i couldn't find any links related to it.
Well, I tried the same with casperjs and python. It behaved the same.
is this behaviour because it is a scripting language?
Please do share your thoughts on this

I FUCKING HATE JAVA
Wee need to do a schoolproject with JavaFX and TableViews. The editing of the tables works grate and is also displayed after commiting. But wen i take the data from the TableViews there is still the old one...9 -
i was about to talk about golang - but it can wait.
snapchat's discover section is TERRIBLE. the amount of BULLSHIT, INCORRECT INFORMATION, AND PURE IDIOCY IS MAKING IT TERRIBLE.
now, usually, i rant about mashable when i say it's terrible. AT LEAST WHEN MASHABLE WROTE ABOUT THIS THEY WERE CORRECT. but no, alas, my faith in humanity is put to an all time end. a new evil has arose, by the name of "wired."
of course, and incredibly late to the party, a "tech" outlet wrote about bitcoin. the headline was "is bitcoin killing the planet?" IT HAS BEEN POSSIBLY THE STUPIDEST ARTICLE IVE READ OF ALL TIME. THEY CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT ANY SHIT THEYRE TALKING ABOUT.
let's take a look at the TWO facts they got wrong, and displayed to over a MILLION people.
now, instead of just GOOGLING TWO SIMPLE FACTS, THEY DECIDED TO JUST WRITE RANDOM SHIT.
ENOUGH WAITING - HERE THE THE TWO FACTS THEY GOT WRONG
picture 1: bitcoin up $900 in the last year? THE LAST MOTHER FUCKING, COCK SUCKING

WHY DO SUCH DUMBASSES HAVE ACCESS TO SOMETHING MILLIONS VIEW?
IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE

did i just read that?
b- bi- bitcoin will "run dry" BY 2032.
i think i finally figured it out.
these facts, they're literally just random number.

i can see it now:
wired employee 1: hey, guess what number im thinking of?
wired employee 2: 14?
wired employee 1: *screaming* BITCOIN WILL RUN DRY IN 14 YEARS

how do these people get hired. do they hire only hire 12 year old interns? im genuinely asking. does anyone know?
okay, end of rant. plz continue complaining about dumbasses who have power thru the media in tech8 -
1. Applied to a company as a senior dev and sent them my prefered rate
2. Got rejected
3. Contacted recruiter and asked why. The rate seems to be not within their budget
4. Knocked down my rate by 15 percent, did their intro and technical interviews
5. Received an email with feedback that on some topics during technical interview I displayed senior knowledge and on others a very strong mid knowledge. Basically they are trying to gaslight me and presented me a final offer with a knocked down rate by another 30 percent this time. Bitch thinks if I reduced my rate I will do it that for second time.
And they are supposed to be US based company. Offering me a rate that I could get 10km away from my home lol.
Gonna ghost them for a couple days and respons them on Monday that I would like to proceed with the original rate that was quoted by them.
Fucking idiots expect a senior to know everything. If there was a person like that he would be charging at least double of what they are offering.2 -

Hey, here's an idea. Ethical cryptocurrency mining Adblock.
We've been talking a lot about mining as a revenue source and its ethics here, so that gave me an idea.
I've seen a lot of talk about blocking or boycotting mining websites.
Adblock has the "ethical ads" thing to allow reasonable ads to be displayed.
What if we made the mining equivalent of that: an extension that the user allows to mine with x resources, that prevents websites from doing their own mining, but which redistributes its mining results.
The website could just add a bit of script to tell the extension who they are, and while the page is on the foreground or streaming content, the extension would mine on their behalf.
This could also allow more transparency for the user: "your computer has generated x money for website y".
Wouldn't that be a nice middle ground? Does anyone know of a project like that?7 -
I've been creating a new website layout for a small theatre group. I am like how it's coming together :)
It is designed with user interaction in mind because the layout they are using now is... Well, thrown together. It uses images as buttons and I had a few friends of mine ask "Where do I get tickets" and it is not updated regularly.
I plan to automate a few things like for shows, if the show date has passed, it will remove itself from the home page. I also plan to web scrape, if the site permits, some information to be displayed on the show page.
I got to lots to do before I can show them what I've made.

This goddamn obtuse motherfucker at this discord of this framework I'm trying to learn, who happens to be a mod.
I'm trying to explain my scenario to this guy (a very reasonable one in my opinion) but this motherfucker is giving me some sass saying I'm confused at very basic things or saying shit like "it's literally that simple", well ain't that a bitch.
He's doing half assed reading, and apparently he's alt tabbing to a videogame (as displayed by discord), so I guess he's not paying attention and reducing me to an idiot.
What am I supposed to do? Call him out and get banned?
No, I have to fucking shut up and stomach this idiot because I need to learn.
If you don't have much patience, you just can't be a mod and also respond to people. Just pick one.
Because people can't fucking call you out when you're being a douche.
Fuck this guy.1 -
Someone please explain to me how error messages such as
"Something went wrong" or "Critical error" are valid and provide little to no follow up explanation in the GUI, Logs, or client logs.
I get that not all error cases can be displayed on a GUI, but at least have decent error handling. Especially if your $8+ billion company.1 -
So, I produce a monthly report for our customer service department each month, and this report includes various statistics related to our company's support performance. Two of the included statistics are the "Average Speed of Answer" (ASA for short) and the "Abandoned Call percentage" (ABD % for short) that are derived from client calls to support.
The formulae for these values are:
- ASA = time in seconds all calls that were answered spent waiting to be answered divided by the number of answered calls - displayed as hh:mm:ss
- ABD % = number of abandoned calls minus those that were abandoned in under 10 seconds (referred to as "short abandoned") divided by the sum of total calls that were offered minus the sum of short abandons & transfers
These statistics are also included in a daily version of the same report that all Customer Service leadership personnel have access to.
Now, every single fucking month the same Sr. Manager always has some kind of "discrepancy" with the monthly report that ALWAYS boils down to his dumbass trying to average shit on the daily Excel reports for that month and it being different than what the monthly report is showing. Now, these reports ONLY display the calculated value for any calculated fields mind you - not the raw values of the DB fields used in said calculations.
This month I have to tell this shit-for-brains that you can't just take an average of ASA & ABD % from the Daily's and compare them to the Monthly numbers because their calculated fucking fields!!!
Come to think of it, this has been his issue for like the past 5 months, and I seriously can't fix stupid!
Sometimes I just wanna reply to his snarky ass, corporate bullshit emails like, "BRUH!, The only motherfucking discrepancy I can locate is your IQ and your fucking title - that shit don't correlate homie! Need to take that ass back to High School statistics or something!"
But I digress...
TL;DR
I have to deal with a Sr. Manager who doesn't fucking realize you can't average a calculated field from a daily report and think it's gonna match up with the monthly report. I believe he is borderline retarded, and I often wonder how he got the "Sr." In his title let alone "Manager".
Oh wait, this is corporate America - you just gotta kiss the most ass... never mind.4 -
The only really influential product Microsoft ever created is Verdana. Yes, the typeface.
It was the first typeface designed to be displayed on a screen rather than in print. Before that, there only were monospaced typefaces like we saw in terminal, or digitized typefaces like Helvetica Neue.
More than that, its looks were partly generated by an algorithm, hence the odd, alien looks. But because of it, Verdana works amazingly good in small labels. The 8pt Verdana is more readable than 10pt Helvetica.
I still use Verdana in all of my projects, religiously.
All the other Microsoft products: Windows, Xbox, Surface, Office, Azure, all that stuff — is mere garbage compared to the influence Verdana made on how our interfaces look now.4 -

GitHub has launched Codespaces : A feature that lets you code directly on the web {as a virtual Integrated Development Environment (IDE) on the cloud}.
According to the Github Blog: Earlier, to contribute to a project you would need to make a pull request and set up the environment on your local machine according to the requirements of a project. With Codespaces, you don't need to do that anymore. As soon as you click on the code button, the website sets up the environment in seconds.
In addition to Codespaces, GitHub is also launching Discussions : A forum-like feature that lives under your project that allows others to engage with you and other contributors.
Code scanning : With code scanning enabled, every git push is scanned for new potential security vulnerabilities, and results are displayed directly in your pull request.19 -

I have about a week of holidays left before my classes start and I'm thinking about creating a notepad with password protection and cloud sync so it can be accesed on other devices.
So this is how it will work.
Probably the same interface as windows notepad so no one notices. It can be used to write a personal diary or anything that you don't want other people to know. It will ask for a 4 digit code when you open it(at first you'll see some text, you'll just enter you pin after that text and without pressing enter if you pin is write you'll see the text changes to your previously saved text and if your pin is wrong no error will be displayed itll work as a normal text editor for intruders and probably this wrong pin will be sent to you on you emil with other info). Now even if yoy minimize the window you'll have enter the pin again or even your windows gets out of focus. So you can have it open all the with out worrying.
I'll be using C# for this which I have no experience with. But I'll get it so no problem here.
Provide your feedback on this with some suggestions.
*Sorry I didn't post it on calebs section because I don't have $10.6 -
Can anybody here tell wtf answer of this question is?
Most of the quizzes in this test are terrible. Answer to some options don't get displayed because it gets parsed by the browser. I think the person who developed this website and questions suck at this.

Fuck you, magento and yes, fuck you, customer as well.
After 2 days of fixing crucial things like missing discount functionalities, taxes being displayed as 'tax' because some monkey hardcoded the term in the template instead of getting the tax class name and overall fumbling in magento's core just to make this broken shit do its job, the customer emails me, asking if we're making 'progress at all because the test link looks pretty unfinished'

About two weeks ago i posted a rant containing an email from the big boss. Today they held a "virtual town hall" where people could ask questions, get answers, and generally just be online. Went fairly well, good info was handed out, and i think people mostly enjoyed themselves (even if it was at the expense of the higher-ups).
Then comes the email. The same person as last time had this quote:
"I’m good at giving advice, so I need to take some of my own. I intend to take it easy this weekend, watch Netflix, do some household chores, play the piano and maybe even read a book! "
Jesus christ. Remember those memes about zuck being a robot because everything he does it looks and feels like it's an alien trying to blend in? That's what this feels like. On a normal workyear i would hear from this person 10 times TOTAL. I have heard from them this amount in the past 2 WEEKS.
Maybe it's the virus, but this is driving me INSANE. If there's any lesson you can learn from this, it would be:
Dont pretend like you care by not knowing or learning anything about the people you work with.
Jesus they even sent out surveys to see what the telework experience is like... THE RESPONSES ARE RECORDED AND PUBLICLY DISPLAYED!!!

I have a simple task to do but I want some of you guys' input.
So I need to set up a button that when pressed will cause a video to play on a nearby TV.
- This must happen instantly (or at most with a second or two of delay)
- Video will be "self-hosted" (not on Youtube or something) and will mainly stay the same
- No idea what kind of TV I'll get to work with (might be smart, probably not)
I'm thinking a Raspberry Pi with a button connected to it's GPIO and a static image displayed on the TV when idle. That way I can also manage/maintain it remotely via SSH and it should be reliable enough but on the other hand this could be an overkill...
Post your 2 cents please and thank you :)2 -

After writing my first php script that displayed a random forum signature image. Took me far too long but the end result was worth it.
Felt proud after my first mini refractor that automatically picked up images from a folder on my geocities web hosting lol.

Playing pokemon. I'm extremely into the series and played nearly every gen since the first ones. Even bought the cheap 2ds just to play these 3ds versions even tho i got acutally no time during exams and sometimes even played the different editions of the same gen just because i can.😅
And I have the habit to think about "how is it done?" With everything that is displayed on a screen or just blinks. And with 800 pokemon and their stats and subforms and IVs and all that nerdshit (back then compressed in such a small rom and running on pretty low end devices) i began to think about data structures, organization of them and such, especially when there are many big, wide datasets.😪3 -
v0.0005a (alpha)
- class support added to lua thanks to yonaba.
- rkUIs class created
- new panel class
- added drawing code for panel
- fixed bug where some sides of the UI's border were failing to drawing (line rendering quark)
v0.0014a (alpha) 11.30.2023 (~2 hours)
- successfully retrieving basic data from save folder, load text into lua from files
- added 'props' property to Entity class
- added a props table to control what gets serialized and what doesn't
- added a save() base method for instances (has to be overridden to be useful beyond the basics)
- moved the lume.serialize() call into the :save() method on the base entity class itself
- serialized and successfully saved an entities property table.
- fixed deserializion bugs involving wrong indexes (savedata[1] not savedata[2])
- moved deserialization from temp code, into line loading loop itself (assuming each item is on one line)
- deser'd test data, and init()'d new player Entity using the freshly-loaded data, and displayed the entity sprite
All in all not a bad session. Understanding filing handling and how to interact with the directory system was the biggest hurdle I was worried about for building my tools.
Next steps will be defining some basic UI elements (with overridable draw code), and then loading and initializing the UI from lua or json.
New projects can be set as subfolders folders in appdata, using 'Setidentity("appname/projectname") to keep things clean.
I'm not even dreading writing basic syntax highlighting!
Idea is to dogfood the whole process. UI is in-engine rendered just like you might see with godot, unity, or gamemaker, that way I have maximum flexibility to style it the way I want. I'm familiar enough with constructing from polygons, on top of stenciling, on top of nine-slicing, on top of existing tweening and special effects, that I can achieve exactly what I want.
Idea is to build a really well managed asset pipeline. Stencyl, as 'crappy' as it appeared, and 'for education' was a master class in how to do things the correct way, it was just horribly bloated while doing it.
Logical tilesets that you import, can rearrange through drag-n-drop, assign custom tile shapes to, physics materials, collisions groups, name, add tag data to, all in one editor? Yes please.
Every other 2D editor is basic-bitch, has you importing images, and at most generates different scales and does the slicing for you.
Code editor? Everything behavior was in a component, with custom fields. All your code goes into a list of events, which you can toggle on and off with a proper toggle button, so you can explicitly experiment, instead of commenting shit out (yes git is better, but we're talking solo amateurs here, they're not gonna be using git out the gate unless they already know what they're doing).
Components all have an image assignable to identify them, along with a description field, and they're arranged in a 2d grid for easy browsing, copying, modifying.
The physics shape editor, the animation editor, the map editor, all of it was so bare bones and yet had things others didn't.
I want that, except without the historic ties to flash, without the overhead of java, and with sexier fucking in-engine rendering of the UI and support for modding and in-engine custom tools.
Not really doing it for anyone except myself, and doubt I'll get very far, but since I dropped looking for easy solutions, I've just been powering through all the areas I don't understand and doing the work.
I rediscovered my love of programming after 3-4 years of learning to hate it, and things are looking up.2 -
I'm enraged by seeing my floated images collapsing into one line on large screen because there are fewer lines displayed. What tricks do you use to circumvent that? Maybe there are grid-layouts for blogposts?3

What is your last WTF moment? I will start, today I was working on some abandoned tasks, finished the first one quickly and unexpectedly. I thought It would take more time though. The second task -the shitty one- finished it too, again quickly and unexpectedly. There was a tiny fix I should make, which shown on the image below, I wanted to change the CSS of this select box and the highlight color when the mouse is over one option, I spent about 2 hours without any luck, this shitty box has no trace in the dom or any CSS attached to it, I was going nuts, why the fuck this has no fucking trace in the HTML. Ok, I can change the select element background but it would be applied to all the box and the highlight color for the option element can't be changed. The WTF moment is that I was testing the website in chrome inspect with mobile devices enabled and thought, holy fucking shit this is not how the select is supposed to be shown on mobile devices, it will fall back to the native mobile system select element. what a fucking shit is this, I was going to go mad for 2 hours about this genie element displayed here.

If you want to add stunning visualization to your data you might want to try http://www.glimpsedash.com developed by @trostik.
I have been using it the past few days and it has Great potential. You can easily visualize data and present on any device. I am using a large flat screen, laptop and phone in my testing.
The API is easy to pass data to. Today I created multiple events and displayed my data using the included pins and a few of my own.
Interestingly when I started testing Saturday I could only pass data using latitude and longitude. That was fine but I also have data points I wanted to pass by IP address. I went back in the system later in the day and @trostik had added this functionality! Maybe the system read my mind. So, I have now been passing latitude-longitude AND IP's to my dashboard map.
Looking forward to continuing to work with http://www.glimpsedash.com and hearing other dev opinions. -
Who here works at Apple in the Finder group. OMG, would you please fix shit? Finder has been such a bag of insects for years.
1. windows don't right-size to any reasonable minimum in icon view when there is one row of icons
2. text color of files and folder names no longer adjust to accommodate background color changes. Setting the window background color USED TO result in white text of the files and folders displayed in that window. Now it is Black-On-Black oh so readable 🙄
3. stop re-locating 0,0 in the god damn folder icon view. Finder items in grid view cannot, by themselves, get disorganized off the grid.
4. Stop moving the god damn folder/disk window locations between open and close
5. stop resizing the god damn folder/disk windows between open and close.
6. stop destroying the contents of clipping files. I get so tired of losing data to mac-unix programmers who think they know what the f they are doing at the file level. Resource forks were rocket science you just could not understand and you have really rolled the clock back on macOS file system to Stone Age 1980s tech.11 -
Android devs, what are your thoughts about the naming conventions google tries to enforce on us, especially with the xmls?
I opened a new project after months of leaving android dev, and thought of trying the basic activity template with name 'myActivity'
On clicking it, a ton of files got created : myActivity, myActivityFragment ,... And in xml the reverse naming notation : activity_my, fragment_my, content_my,...
This naming is uncomfortable .in a large project, activities usually acts as complete modules in which different tasks are handled : logins getting checked, data being cached, database being accessed and much more...
So if my activity 'abc' has a content fragment and a toolbar whose design is in another xml, shouldnt the 3 of them be named like:
abc_activity.xml
abc_activity_fragment.xml
abc_activity_toolbar.xml
And not
activity_abc.xml
fragment_abc.xml
toolbar_abc.xml
??
At the very least , it would look nice since the components that are displayed together will have their files together. And i don't know much about testing, but i believe it would be helpful there too5 -
Some compilers give an error message on forgotten type casting. From that it shows good typing style casting. So you also avoid clerical errors that can lead to the program crash in the worst case. With some types it is also necessary to perform type casting comma on others Types, however, do this automatically for the compiler.
In short:Type casting is used to prevent mistakes.
An example of such an error would be:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
int main ()
{
int * ptr = malloc (10*sizeof (int))+1;
free(ptr-1);
return 0;
}
By default, one tries to access the second element of the requested memory. However, this is not possible, since pointer calculation (+,-) does not work for a void pointer.
The improved example would be:
int * ptr = ((int *) malloc (10*sizeof (int)))+1;
Here, typecasting is done beforehand and this turns the void pointer into its int pointer and pointer calculation can be applied. Note: If instead of error "no output" is displayed on the sololearn C compiler try another compiler.

I did a little bit of finger practice in Unity, nothing fancy just two spheres and a capsule-guy under Newtonian gravity and a force-driven player control script that works on spheres.
I will never understand how C# libraries spontaneously decide that some operations will be nonvirtual methods while others will be static methods. It is the exact same thing! You're just ruining intellisense for no conceivable reason!
Also, transform has a right but no left, the float return value of Vector3.SignedAngle is not the same unit as Transform.Rotate(Vector3, float), Transform has LookAt(Vector3 position) but not Look(Vector3 direction), to do that you need to
transform.rotation = Quaternion.LookRotation(Vector3.ProjectOnPlane(transform.up, direction).normalized(), direction)
you can't discover whether a collision encountered sticky or dynamic friction, you need to infer that by calling RigidBody.GetPointVelocity on both RB-s at the collision point, which has its own quirks. Apparently this is to keep the API engine agnostic, but any serious project will have its own physics materials which already specify the sticky friction coefficient. A simulation that works correctly with physics materials but doesn't discover the kind of friction as an intermediate result is not possible.
RigidBody's velocity isn't displayed in the GUI, so you can't give it an initial value without a dedicated script. I have a script on this fucking moon that does nothing but add a force in Start.
Is it just me or does Unity feel cheap somehow? Like a hastily written library for a research project that was never rounded out with the obvious features. I understand that it's a free product that catalyzed the golden age of indie game development, but I think it's seriously struggling to keep up, not with the showy investor bait stuff, but with the standard of comfort modern tooling provides.7 -
So I was in the train station today. And the time table for the trains wasn't working. I also need to mention the fact that it displayed a "Your program is no responding" window. A very special window. A Windows Server 2008 kind of window. No wonder they're never on time.1

God damn stupid piece of shit Glide library doesn't work for shit. Who wrote this garbage? I did everything correctly but the fucking image still doesn't get displayed. Does it have a problem with png images?! Can't it fucking download a small image from the internet? How could someone write something so incredibly stupid???

Oh, now it works. Hey, this library is actually pretty cool.1 -
Are there other developers who have a version displayed in their test site? We have it now but as a FE i really dislike everything in my viewport that isnt needed or possible to find elsewhere. Feels like the oldschool commercial popup now being red and obvious.1

Head of PM and head of UI/UX at my company today expressed to me that they are going to change how user created content is displayed because they know what looks better. I don't think they understand what user created content actually is. I can't believe these people are in charge of anything. I swear they just belong to a club of management types that read the same blogs and follow each other from job to job destroying everything in their wake like a locust swarm.

Client had me implement an exit intent modal on their website, inviting visitors to sign up to their mailing list when they moved to close the browser tab.
Client then had me implement an on page load modal which displays the poster for their upcoming event.
Client just emailed "Double popup happening!" with a screenshot of their website with both modals displayed at once.
Kicking myself for replying and explaining that this was expected behaviour in light of what they'd asked for instead of responding, simply, "Yes".1 -
Ok I don't know very much about what goes into developing a whole os, but I find it hard to imagine how you can fuck something up so badly like the win10 creators update. When suddenly the explorer and the menus don't have text displayed and you have to guess which one is the right folder. Do they even have testing?3
-
There was this text in the game that, according to platform's rules, was supposed to be displayed verbatim. One of the languages had these “” opening / closing quotation marks. The problem was that instead of the text reading “some_text” there seemed to be a space in there “ some_text”. Since the rules are specific - no alterations whatsoever, a report was made. It turned out later the issue was due to kerning.
The chosen solution for that was to use "some_text”.
What the fuck? For one, there rule was that there are to be no alterations to the text. Then there's the other thing of this "” being just plain wrong.
It's like writing
```
main()
{
end
```
WTF are you doing?15 -
The value of a good walk...
So I was stuck with this problem. There's the data structure then there is the display of the data structure. Two copies of the data which is fine.
But the displayed copy is a pain to work with (WinForms) and there the was problem of having to handle events when the displayed data changed then update the back end actual working array and synchronize it so they're both up to date. Couldn't figure out a good solution. Actually slept on it. Still it didn't sit right to have two copies like that and sync it.
Went for a 20 min walk and BAM! Solution found. There was a way to just directly update the crappy WinForm and sort the data and keep the properties then when done displaying/selecting just convert to the working data format...so simple no synching required!1 -

I'd like to create an imageboard app with React-Native and got a few questions.
Every user has to like or dislike the shown content to advance to the next image/video (tinder style). I want to use that data to feed a machine learning algorithm and generate an unique selection of displayed media for each user with that.
Even though I never used it yet before (I'm still learning to code) I want to use python and a python machine learning library for that.
Can you give me any advice for the python part? For example which library to use, where to start, etc. .
Do you think that might be an interesting idea to realize? :)2 -
So I thought to myself.
Hey I'll go ahead and use python, it will make this easier than using c++.
So I start looking at python.
And I start looking at specific common functions that c/c++ and .net all offer.
Like writing a fucking png image.
And I start seeing 3rd party libs that are at version 0.2
And so I say, this is supposedly the language data people love. which would include searching gis data too right ?
Everybody touts this level for ai and machine learning and all this other bullshit but I can't even create a fucking image ? And every document points to this same lib where it comes to creating this image ? at version 0.2 ?? 20 years or more after PNG was created ?
So I look up geotiff, and see 0.4........ so..... what is this language good for again ? I can parse json in javascript and do the other things I want...
Oh scatterplot generation ? What is it being displayed in jpeg ? Maybe the jpeg implementation is good. because you know i just use scatterplots constantly. yup. most of the data I require to analyze uses scatterplots. not risk.
fun.
oh and look django.... who the fuck uses django ?
and omg it makes me format my text or the run bombs.....
jesus. rpg much ?
I'm just... I'm not seeing...
WHY ?????????
and then I have zimmermans voice buzzing in my head about just using goddamn .net24 -

At my work we still deploy web files the old-fashioned way, copying newer versions over from dev to test and test to prod. For comparing and copying changed files we use WinMerge. Although our workflow sucks, WinMerge itself is actually a nifty little tool for comparing any sort of text files. But today it pissed me off in a way it never has before. I copied a diff from left to right and then meant to save it with Ctrl + S, but accidentally pressed Ctrl + D. Guess what happened? To my horror, both sides went completely blank! It looked as if the file contents had been deleted, and undo had no effect. To my relief, the files were intact when opening them in VS Code. Thinking this was a glitch in WinMerge, I restarted it but still, all files were blank. No contents displayed! Then I thought, perhaps pressing Ctrl + D again would bring the file contents back into view. And it did! So the bottom line is: Pressing Ctrl + D makes the compared files appear as empty. Now, who would want that to happen? What a nice feature, you've got here WinMerge! (I'm being sarcastic in case you missed that)6

Hello wonderful Salesforce peeps. I need to take the Salesforce platform app builder credential
What is the best site to use as a study guide/ exam prep?
Cause honestly I've been using Trailhead and I feel it's just a big advert for Salesforce and it's so condensed it feels like a beginner course and I'm scared the test questions will be more profound than what is displayed in there.
I am a complete noob in Salesforce but I do have CRM experience, DB experience, Security experience, and programming experience.

Yesterday I spent 7 hours on a silly SSL certificate error. The exact same webpage gave me "certificate revoked" error when viewed in one browser/device but it displayed fine on others!
But everything is back to normal today! As if nothing happened!
I'm not a web dev, so I have no idea why this happened. I'm just pissed that I wasted 7 hours on a thing that wasn't my fault... -

'Object x is displayed incorrectly when playing on PC in resolution 1024x768 or Android tablets w/ 4:3 Aspect Ratio'
*facepalms*
You, sir, are failing at basic math && basic logic, among other things.
1024x768 _has_ an Aspect Ratio of 4:3.
If only you had bothered checking, you would've know that the issue is purely related to the Aspect Ratio && !just that one resolution.5 -
Some little piece of shit fairy messed with my code.
Made some modifications in a tamplate file, tested in dev everything worked. Pushed it to prod and in one of its cases it displayed the array key of each element. Checked the code, an that was what written in there in prod and in dev too. However that shit in dev (and previous versions in prod) displayed key[0]->name as intended.
So I thought git blame and check where it went wrong... Guess what... That fucking line is the same age as the file itself....
How that motherfucking shit worked, and what had I had in mind when writing that shitcode is a mistery... -
So i keep thinking why don't people make reminders of a goal they want to follow.I mean i use it all the time it helps me be more organised.
** Do remember i am a NOOB in web Dev and would like to get better**
++// Any suggestions are greatly appreciated //++
So i came up with a Web App where
" we enter something we want to set a goal based on and the time duration we want it to run it for."
What's the best part " reminder is displayed in terms of a calendar with some animation (where we click on the date to show that we have lived up to that goal for that day)"
The page would also have a counter like a clock which would tell the user who has logged in if or not they are Procrastinating or actually following their set goal. -
Dumb question time!
I'm writing a bash script that outputs some progress info to stdout (stuff like "Doing this... ok", "Doing that... ok") before outputing a list of names (to stdout too).
I'd like to be able to pipe this list of names to a second script for processing, by doing a simple :
~$ script1 | script2
Unfortunately, as you may have guessed, the progress info is piped as well, and is not displayed on the screen.
Is it considered a bad practice to redirect that progress info to stderr so it is not sent into the pipe ?
Is there any "design pattern" for this kind of usecase, where you want to be able to choose what to display and what to pipe to a program that accepts input from stdin ?16 -

Angular and MVC really slows shit down, doesn't it?

Anything made by asus is a fucking garbage.
My first asus laptop was eee pc 701. It had only 2 gigabytes “ssd” which was just a flash drive using usb 2.0 inside. Doing this instead of using a proper sata ssd is like using bunch of rats glued to a frisbee instead of roomba vacuum. It displayed “intel 800mhz processor” in settings but this was only the processor’s name string, in fact it was only 640mhz single core. I still managed to install totally stripped version of windows xp to it and play some old games but overall it was horrible. It also heated up as hell.
My second asus laptop was infamous z99h. It had windows vista and was slow as hell right out of the box. Also BOTH hinges broke in just like six months. It was horrible as well. The screen itself broke in a year.
I also used asus rt-series router and it required a restart every day just to deliver some wifi. Don’t you dare tell me to “uPdATe fIrMwArE”, I pay money for the product and I expect it to work right outside the box.
Asus smartphones was also garbage.
So why have asus laptop if you can have a real laptop like MacBook or thinkpad? Why have asus phone if you can have a real smartphone like iPhone or pixel? Why have asus router if you can have ubiquiti?
Asus drivers suck, and all of asus software is just bloatware.9 -
Today I was fighting a bug in php that resulted in a steady increase of the upload time of a picture. I printed it out together with some other like the amount of accesses on the image.
They where separated with <br> tags which were not displayed for some reason (maybe you already gueesed it here).
I ask my teacher to help me out, because the entry in my database was correct, the value I received was correct, but not the displayed value...
We even modified the database structure in order to find the bug, but it turns out the error was how I displayed the values. TIL that strings are not concatenated with a '+', but with a '.', the hard way.
Next problem: why is the access count incremented? Also why 3 times?😅 -
So I tried to fix an app today that we made for a client ...
It's a Cordova project that's basically jus a wrapper for a certain section of the client's website that's displayed inside an iframe inside said app (with a bit of additional CSS and such). It's all working fine.
Said section of the website offers two to four different options to choose from, then scrolls down (triggered by JavaScript, window.scrollTop or JQuery's equivalent) to the next selection panel that's dynamically added to the DOM tree, the content's depending on what the user selected before.
The problem is, said scrolling effect inside said iframe does not work inside the iOS version of the app (does, however, when the content of the iframe is viewed (by just visiting the URL) inside Safari), instead, the iframe just scrolls back to top.
So after five and a half hours of depression, anger and rage, also some repetetive cursing towards Apple (just like every time something has to do with their awful products), my boss walks in, looks at me and says:
"I'd be fine with it, if I just had to manually scroll instead".
.........
If it wasn't 5pm already (I usually go home at 6), I would've just left the room / gone home or gotten my salad from the fridge to have something to release my anger on.
Seriously though, what the fuck!? -
Why is it that a website thinks that it would be a good idea to completely block a user from using their website if they have an adBlocker? Now don't get me wrong, I can understand them wanting to put up a message maybe saying "hey we make money off the ads that are displayed, please don't block them." But FFS give the user the choice to close the window and continue on if they don't want to disable their adBlocker! I know personally I just choose to leave the site and go elsewhere for content when I encounter those things!
Don't force me to disable and then refresh!2 -
imagine building an app using javascript(react-native) that get list of skills which will be displayed to the user to select and the same list displayed as interest for the user to do the same if you try to treat them seperately but from the same source you get a shit result e.g
const list = responseFromApi;//array of object
let skills = list;;
let interest = list;
skills.checked = true;
interest is changed and the list constant variable is changed the values change were ever the list variable is assign to a variable and the variable is tempered.
the above code was the fustration i got with javascript when i didnt know of the mutation guy.
Mutation is a nightmare never knew javascript object are passed by reference which make them mutable this sucks....
another crazy behavior below though the same;
const person = {name:'Dan',age:43} //object
let person0 = person;
let person1 = person;
person1.name = 'David'
the value of both person0 and person get change.
this is madness .3 -

Just came across this on a forum while researching something:
"
Hello, sorry that I didn't check the TOS myself. I just had this thought and figured it'd be easier to parse for someone with the mental model already stored. I'm sorry if this is lazy, but promise I'll pay it forward.
"
As a dev, who frequently has to build FAQ's, Support forums, make sure T&C's get displayed again when changed etc etc. The above offends me to my very core.
So much so, I have been unable to continue researching, and now fixated on finding some way to make him regret his actions. -
I need professional advice. Or at least informed opinions.
I recently competed in a hackathon and won. My team wants to commercialize our idea. I'm worried that since we publicly displayed it, that the I.P. rights are a little "in the air". We NEVER verbally gave anyone the rights, and the rules of the hackathon don't even mention the words.

Ok, so i got an epic requirement from business.
Business wants to implement something like this. On a save click this popup should be opened with further 2 options "Save" and "Save As" having radio button in front of each button to enable and disable the buttons and input boxes and obviously error/success message should be
displayed according to the option selected.
Team denied to work on the requirement.

Turns out the dropdowns that looked the same weren't the same. There was a different table for each selected radio button that was getting displayed and the dev tools didn't reflect that in real time.
I managed to notice after spending a while in table hell (we're talking 4-levels deep nested tables)1 -
Why useImperativeHandle in React is bad?
I have component A. I have component B which is a child of A.
I have button in component A that should change how component B is displayed.
Usual approach is to set state in A, change it upon click and pass that state as flag via props to B.
But there is another approach via exposing ref to component B using forwardRef() + useImperativeHandle().
And then calling method that belongs to B from A. Like this: bRef.current.changeDisplay()
https://stackoverflow.com/questions...
https://reactjs.org/docs/...
https://github.com/reactjs/...
People on SoF and Docs say that the first way is preferrable. But no one explain why.
Does anyone know why calling child method from parent is considered bad?4 -
I just noticed something.... I think I read more rants if they're displayed in pages with a scrollbar instead of infinite scrolling in the app.
Guess the rewarding feeling of reaching the end of a page helps? -
suggestion for devRant
I'm posting them here so if others want they can flame me as they see fit.
- Please add the ability to customize which notifications to get and which rants to watch.
- Please move around options in profile and settings and for the love of God move the delete profile button. It's just behind the settings button so if you press settings and click again there's a chance you have clicked the delete button.
- Some of the app is using JS for navigation and other parts don't. Pagination can be done with JS. Seeing notifications too.
- I get that the app is designed this way to be displayed on mobile but for someone like me who uses the web app the small editor and it's huge font size and the big plus button are really annoying.
I love this place. I hope it gets better.1 -
BEST BITCOIN RECOVERY COMPANY |CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVEY HIRE CYBER CONSTABLE INTELLIGENCE
One evening on a Friday after work, I found myself in a terrifying situation. I had just finished a long week and was looking forward to unwinding over the weekend when I decided to check on my cryptocurrency holdings. To my horror, I discovered that my XRP had become trapped on a cryptocurrency exchange called Crypto change, which I later realized was operated by scammers. Crypto change had always seemed like a reliable platform, but now, under strict geopolitical restrictions, it had suddenly become impossible to access my funds. Every attempt to withdraw my XRP was blocked, and I was left helpless, with no way to recover my assets. The value of my XRP had grown to over $100,000, and the thought that it might be permanently out of my reach was overwhelming. Panic set in as I realized I had fallen victim to a fraudulent exchange, and all of my usual recovery methods seemed useless. Desperate for a solution, I reached out to Cyber Constable Intelligence, a firm known for its expertise in Cryptocurrency Recovery. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was willing to try anything at that point. From the moment I contacted them, I felt a sense of relief. The team at Cyber Constable Intelligence sprang into action immediately, understanding the severity of my situation. They knew that Crypto change wasn’t just an exchange with withdrawal issues, it was a scam designed to trap unsuspecting investors like me. However, they assured me they had the skills and experience to navigate this challenging scenario. The experts at Cyber Constable Intelligence quickly identified vulnerabilities in Crypto change's KYC (Know Your Customer) processes, weaknesses that the scammers had overlooked. They put together a detailed plan to exploit these gaps, enabling them to move my XRP to a secure wallet, bypassing the scam exchange’s restrictions. It wasn’t an easy task. The process took several weeks of careful, discreet work. The team had to balance security measures while avoiding detection from the exchange’s administrators. Throughout the recovery, I was kept informed of their progress, and their dedication was evident. In the end, their efforts paid off. My XRP, valued at $100,000, was safely moved from Crypto change to a secure wallet under my control. Thanks to the relentless effort and expertise of Cyber Constable Intelligence, I regained access to my trapped funds. The professionalism and skill they displayed in handling my case were extraordinary. I can now breathe easy, knowing my investment is safe, and I owe it all to their exceptional service and dedication.

RECOVER SCAMMED BITCOIN THROUGH → → SPARTAN TECH GROUP RETRIEVAL
The day I lost my life savings of $59,000 in Ethereum to a fraudulent investment scheme still haunts me. But in the end, their slick presentation and promises of outsized returns proved to be nothing more than an elaborate ruse, leaving me financially devastated and emotionally shattered. I was in a complete state of despair following the deception. Not only was the loss of such a large amount of money financially devastating, but it also had a profound personal impact. It was a gut-punch that left me reeling because I had worked so hard over the years to accumulate that nest fund. As I tried to pick up the pieces and figure out my next steps, I was overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness and uncertainty. Where could I turn for help? Who could I trust to guide me through this ordeal? The thought of navigating the complex world of cryptocurrency recovery and legal recourse was daunting, and I felt utterly alone in my struggle. !Rant
New to the whole front end world so pardon me for such a question.
I have a huge set of data about 5-10k records flowing in which needs to be displayed in a tabular form with sorting, filtering, selection addition and deletion.
Is it wise to sort and filter in the front end? Or make multiple calls to backend and perform the operations there?
If in front end what is the best way to perform these operations?
The application is going to be loaded on a screen and left there for users to view. So even local storage could be am option.
Using polymer for frontend so any special tool for this in polymer?3 -

VS Exception Display is full badfor me now.
I had a query problem in my code, and the only exception displayed by VS was one that don't help that much.
But there were two exceptions messages to display. Fortunatly the front-page displayed the full stack, else I'd have no clue of what was going on. -
Hmmm...
So when you have a screen with light colors displayed and turn brightness down, the colors become darker.
BUT! If you have dark colors displayed and you turn the brightness down, do the colors get brighter?

BITCOIN RECOVERY MADE IT EASY WITH RAPID DIGITAL RECOVERY COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTIONS
My name is Casey, and I work in a mall in London. Months ago, I faced a challenging situation that many people might find themselves in — being scammed out of a substantial amount of money. I lost GBP 100,000 to a forex scam, which was extremely distressing. The scammers had promised high returns on my investment and presented a seemingly credible front, with professional-looking websites, persuasive sales pitches, and even fake testimonials. At first, everything appeared legitimate, and I believed I was making a smart financial decision. However, it all turned out to be a sophisticated con, leaving me devastated and uncertain about how to recover my lost funds. The initial shock of the scam made me feel helpless and overwhelmed. I had no idea where to turn or how to navigate the complex world of financial fraud recovery. I spent days, even weeks, trying to understand what had happened and how I had been tricked. The scammers were elusive, and there was little to no trace of them online once they had my money. I felt trapped in a situation that seemed impossible to escape. After some research and many anxious nights, I came across Rapid Digital Recovery. They seemed to have a good track record of helping individuals in similar situations, so I decided to try their services. The decision wasn’t easy — after all, I had just been swindled out of a large sum of money, and I was cautious about trusting another company. However, the professionalism and transparency displayed by Rapid Digital Recovery put me at ease. They had a detailed, step-by-step recovery process, and their team of experts was readily available to answer my questions and guide me through the steps. From the very beginning, Rapid Digital Recovery demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise. They took the time to fully understand my case, ensuring that they had all the details necessary to proceed. Their team explained the recovery process clearly, outlining the steps they would take to track the scammers and recover my funds. They also kept me informed at every stage of the process, which gave me confidence and peace of mind. Although it took some time, Rapid Digital Recovery was successful in helping me recover a significant portion of my lost funds. While I may never fully regain everything I lost, the recovery process has been a huge relief. Thanks to Rapid Digital Recovery, I now have hope that I can move on from this financial setback and regain control of my life.

As a freelance artist based just outside of Austin, I had always relied on platforms like Upwork to sell my work and connect with clients. So when I first heard about NFTs, I was intrigued by the idea of using blockchain technology to sell my art and reach new buyers. It seemed like the perfect way to break free from the limitations of traditional platforms and finally make my digital creations more profitable. I came across what appeared to be a reputable NFT marketplace. The platform had a flashy interface and showcased prominent artists, while the online art community buzzed with excitement around it. This validation gave me the confidence to dive in. I spent weeks creating a new series of digital artworks, pouring my heart and soul into them, and then minted them as NFTs on this platform. The fees associated with minting were steep around $20,000 but I believed the potential returns would more than justify the investment. With my NFTs listed, I eagerly promoted them on social media, leveraging my experience from Upwork to engage potential buyers. I received a couple of bids, which filled me with optimism. It felt like everything was finally coming together. But that excitement quickly turned into confusion and frustration when I tried to withdraw the funds from the bids. Instead of receiving my earnings, the platform displayed an error message. When I reached out to their support team, they requested additional payments to "process my withdrawal." At first, the fees seemed minor, but then they escalated, with new demands for payment popping up regularly. The requests quickly spiraled into an endless loop. Days turned into weeks, and my hopes of seeing any return on my investment faded. It dawned on me that I had been scammed. The platform was a fake, and the supposed big-name artists likely part of an elaborate scheme to lure in unsuspecting creators like me. I was devastated both financially and emotionally and felt too embarrassed to tell anyone. I feared people would think I had been reckless or gullible. After confiding in a close friend, I felt a sense of relief. She suggested I reach out to ADWARE RECOVERY SPECIALIST , a service that specializes in tracking down stolen digital assets and helping people who have fallen victim to online scams. Desperate, I contacted them, and to my surprise, they were able to recover my funds. The experience taught me a hard lesson, but it also gave me hope that not all was lost. It reminded me that even in moments of vulnerability, reaching out for help can lead to unexpected solutions.1 -
It all started one afternoon when I was using my computer. Suddenly, a pop-up alert appeared on my screen, claiming that my computer was "infected with Bitcoin mining malware." My heart raced as I read the alarming message. I had heard about malware before, and the thought of my personal information being compromised sent a wave of panic through me. The pop-up wouldn’t go away, and it displayed a phone number for "Microsoft Support," urging me to call immediately for assistance. WHATSAPP : +1 (581) 256‑1989 I hesitated, feeling a mix of fear and confusion, but the urgency of the situation pushed me to pick up the phone. When I called, a man with a calm and authoritative voice answered, claiming to be a Microsoft support agent. He spoke with such confidence that I found myself believing him. He assured me that he could help resolve the issue and began guiding me through a series of steps. He instructed me to download remote access software so he could take control of my computer. I felt a knot in my stomach, but he reassured me that it was necessary to fix the problem. Trusting his words, I followed his instructions, thinking I was doing the right thing. Once he had access to my computer, he started navigating through my files and programs, pointing out various issues that made me believe my computer was indeed compromised. I felt increasingly helpless as he manipulated my system. Then, he mentioned that I needed to secure my cryptocurrency wallet. I had recently started using it, and the thought of losing my funds terrified me. He convinced me that the malware could drain my wallet, and I needed to act fast. In a moment of panic, I provided him with my wallet information, believing I was protecting my savings. I watched in horror as he transferred my hard-earned money into his own accounts. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. I had been scammed. After the call ended, I tried to regain control of my computer, but it was too late. The damage was done, and I felt a deep sense of violation and embarrassment. In the days that followed, I learned that I was not alone. CHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERY, a cybersecurity firm, was working tirelessly to combat this type of fraud. They collaborated with Europol to trace the operation back to a call center in Poland, identifying over 2,500 victims like me across Europe. CHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERY efforts were instrumental in uncovering the extent of the scam. They analyzed the malware's command-and-control servers and gathered evidence that helped law enforcement freeze the accounts where the stolen funds had been transferred. Thanks to their hard work, some of the stolen money was recovered, providing a glimmer of hope for victims like me. While I was grateful for the recovery efforts, the emotional toll of the experience lingered. I never thought I would be a victim of such a scam, and I wish I had been more cautious. I hope that by sharing my story, I can help others avoid falling into the same trap and raise awareness about the vital work that organizations like CHAINTRACE ASSET RECOVERY, are doing to protect individuals from cybercrime.2

LOST CRYPTO? HERE'S HOW TO TRACK, REPORT AND RECOVER IT: RAPID DIGITAL RECOVERY
I was a victim of a notorious scam on Bitcoinfx, a platform that operated under the guise of a legitimate investment opportunity. The company, which claimed to be based in London, posted ads promising high returns on Bitcoin investments and other cryptocurrency trading strategies. These ads flooded social media, search engines, and even financial websites, making the platform seem like a credible and trustworthy entity. Attracted by the promise of quick profits, I decided to invest in what I believed was a solid opportunity. My initial deposit of £1,750 was followed by another £2,500 after I saw what appeared to be consistent growth in my account. The Bitcoinfx mobile app displayed impressive profits, and my balance eventually reflected a total of £117,000. However, when I attempted to withdraw my funds, things began to take a turn for the worse. Each time I tried to access my money, I was told that additional fees were required to cover taxes, government charges, and other fabricated expenses. This cycle of requests never seemed to end, and no matter how much I paid, the withdrawal never went through. At first, Bitcoinfx’s website and mobile app appeared completely legitimate. The branding looked professional, and customer service representatives were available to assist, which gave me a false sense of security. But over time, I began to notice irregularities. The more I questioned them about my inability to access my funds, the more complex and confusing their explanations became. It became clear that I was dealing with a fraudulent operation. By the time I realized Bitcoinfx was a scam, I had lost £80,000 in total, including my initial £4,250 deposit. Desperate for answers, I began researching online and found a forum where other victims shared similar experiences. One comment, in particular, stood out to me. An older gentleman described how he had successfully recovered his funds through a service called Rapid Digital Recovery. The fact that they were familiar with Bitcoinfx and had helped others regain their money gave me hope. I decided to contact Rapid Digital Recovery, and within 24 hours, they had recovered all of my funds. Their professional and swift approach to handling my case was a huge relief. I am sharing my experience to let others know that help is available. If you have been scammed by platforms like Bitcoinfx, Rapid Digital Recovery proved to be a reliable and effective service. I encourage anyone in a similar situation to reach out to them.

Working as a parcel delivery driver at Amazon, I’m constantly focused on delivering packages efficiently and ensuring everything arrives on time. It’s a job that demands attention to detail, reliability, and clear communication. These are values that I hold dear, and they became especially important when I fell victim to a cryptocurrency scam. I had invested 3 BTC in what seemed like a lucrative opportunity, only to realize too late that it was a scam. The feeling of betrayal and loss was overwhelming. I didn’t know where to turn, and I feared my hard-earned Bitcoin was gone for good. I spent hours online trying to find a solution, but most recovery services seemed sketchy at best. Many promised instant results or asked for large upfront fees with little explanation. I was hesitant to trust anyone after being scammed, and I didn’t want to fall for another dubious service. Then, while scrolling through a cryptocurrency forum during one of my breaks, I came across a post from someone who had been in a similar situation. They shared how TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY had successfully helped them recover their stolen crypto. The reviewer spoke highly of their professionalism and how the service kept them informed every step of the way. What caught my attention most was that TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY was a government-approved service, which gave me confidence that they were legitimate. After reading the review, I decided to reach out and see if they could help me recover my funds. From the moment I contacted TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY, I felt reassured. Their team was professional, clear, and transparent about the entire recovery process. They explained how they would use advanced tools to trace my stolen BTC, and they gave me a realistic timeline for when I could expect updates. As someone who works in a demanding job where reliability is key, I truly appreciated their straightforward approach and the trustworthiness they exuded. There were no empty promises, just a clear and honest explanation of the steps involved. Over the following weeks, TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY worked tirelessly to track down my stolen funds. They kept me updated regularly, which I found very reassuring, given how anxious I had been about the situation. After several weeks of diligent work, I received the fantastic news that my 3 BTC had been successfully recovered. It was an incredible relief, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for their help. As someone who works at Amazon, I understand the importance of professionalism and delivering on promises. TECH CYBER FORCE RECOVERY displayed both of these qualities in abundance. If you’ve been a victim of a scam, I highly recommend their services. Their expertise, transparency, and dedication to their clients truly set them apart from the many other recovery services out there. Cryptocurrency has revolutionized the way we think about money and investments, but it also comes with its own set of challenges and risks. Recovering lost cryptocurrency can often seem like an impossible task, but the outcome largely depends on how the loss occurred and, more importantly, who you turn to for help. I learned this lesson the hard way after falling victim to a crypto investment scam that cost me $95,440 USDC. Thankfully, I discovered TECHY FORCE CYBER RETRIEVAL, a company that operates globally and transformed what felt like a hopeless situation into a successful recovery. My ordeal began two months ago when a long-time friend introduced me to a new crypto investment platform. He spoke highly of it, claiming he had already seen impressive returns. The offer seemed too good to be true: invest a certain amount, and within days, you’d see substantial profits. The platform even showcased fake testimonials and what appeared to be real-time profit updates. Trusting my friend’s judgment, I decided to invest some of my savings, believing this was a smart opportunity to grow my funds. Everything looked promising. My account displayed profits, which encouraged me to invest even more. However, when I attempted to withdraw my earnings, I encountered a significant obstacle. For three frustrating days, I was told I needed to deposit additional funds to “unlock” my withdrawal. That’s when I realized I had been scammed. Feeling lost and desperate, I began searching for ways to recover my lost cryptocurrency and came across TECHY FORCE CYBER RETRIEVAL. At first, I was doubtful about how anyone could trace crypto that seemed to be gone for good. However, their positive reviews caught my attention, so I decided to reach out. TECHY FORCE CYBER RETRIEVAL was responsive and transparent about what could be done. They didn’t make unrealistic promises but assured me they had successfully handled cases like mine before. I chose to move forward, and to my immense relief, they successfully recovered my entire $95,440 USDC in a remarkably short time. I was truly amazed. Their service was not only effective but also conducted with confidentiality and integrity. They kept me informed throughout the process and treated my case with the urgency it required. If you’ve lost funds due to a scam or fraudulent platform, don’t lose hope. TECHY FORCE CYBER RETRIEVAL, operating globally, proved to me that recovery is possible when you have the right experts on your side.

HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY RECOVER SCAMMED BTC AND ETH WITH THE HELP OF SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY
A clip titled “Joe Rogan Reveals Secret Ethereum Fork” autopay on YouTube, featuring Rogan’s unmistakable voice praising a supposed “ETH 2.0 upgrade” that promised early investors up to 10x returns. Everything about the video seemed authentic, Rogan's casual tone, the familiar podcast studio, and even commentary from a so-called “blockchain expert.” Skeptical but curious, I clicked the link in the video’s description, which led to a sleek, professional-looking website promoting a limited-time ETH fork token presale. The sense of urgency was palpable. The site displayed endorsements from prominent crypto influencers I already followed, blockchain analytics claiming legitimacy, and a countdown timer steadily ticking toward zero. My fear of missing out overrode my usual caution. Convinced I was getting in on something exclusive, I transferred 50 ETH worth nearly $150,000 at the time to the provided wallet address. In return, I received newly minted “ETH2” tokens. For the next 48 hours, I celebrated what I believed was a smart, early-access investment. Then it all unraveled. The ETH2 tokens suddenly plummeted to zero value. The website vanished without a trace. Soon after, the YouTube video was flagged and removed; it had been a deepfake. Panic set in. I immediately reached out to SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY, a cryptocurrency forensics firm I’d seen mentioned in security forums. Within hours, their team began tracing the scam. They explained the mechanics: the scammers used a “rug pull” strategy. A convincing deepfake drew in victims, fake tokens were issued, and the moment investments peaked, the thieves drained all liquidity. Using on-chain analysis, SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY identified the scammers’ wallet addresses and tracked the flow of my ETH through various exchanges. They worked quickly with centralized platforms to freeze the stolen assets, leveraging anti-money laundering protocols. They also filed emergency legal requests, backed by blockchain evidence, to prove the funds were mine. After three tense weeks, they recovered 47.5 ETH, a 95% success rate. The remaining 2.5 ETH had been funneled to anonymous wallets and was unrecoverable. This taught me hard lessons. Deep Fakes are terrifyingly convincing. Urgency is a red flag. And in crypto, acting quickly after a scam is crucial. Now, I double-check everything and I share my story to protect others. Crypto is powerful, but so are its predators. If scammed, don’t give up. With experts like SALVAGE ASSET RECOVERY, recovery is possible.

Based on deaddrop I create a chat app. No I think about that only one message from each chat member is displayed at the same time.
What do you think one message per member or multiple messages?
By the way I think that the most Chat rooms will have two persons at the same time. It would be very privat I think 🤔 -
Top Recovery Services for Scam Victims//Cranix Ethical Solutions Haven
It was on Monday when a friend reached out to me through Reddit, sharing an enticing story about how he had invested $1,000 and received a staggering $5,000 return. His excitement was palpable, and he encouraged me to contact an Instagram account called dollar_fx to start earning money as well. Intrigued by the promise of high returns and the allure of quick wealth, I decided to message dollar_fx. They presented themselves as knowledgeable Bitcoin miners and account managers, claiming to work with a trading company named dollar_fx. Their professionalism and confidence convinced me that this was a legitimate opportunity. After some back-and-forth communication, I sent $2,000 worth of Bitcoin to dollar_fx. To my astonishment, my account on their platform soon displayed a profit of $21,800. The excitement was overwhelming, and I eagerly attempted to withdraw my funds. However, I was met with a request for a withdrawal fee of $3,650. Although this seemed unusual, I complied, believing it was a standard procedure in the world of cryptocurrency trading. Encouraged by the apparent growth of my investment, dollar_fx convinced me to invest another $1,000 in Bitcoin, promising even higher returns. A week later, my account balance soared to $45,800, but once again, I was faced with another withdrawal fee this time, it was $3,700. Desperate to access my funds, I borrowed money to pay the fee, but my withdrawal status remained pending. When I sought clarification, dollar_fx instructed me to grant the Support Team access to my Instagram account, including backup codes. Alarmed yet trusting their explanation, I complied, thinking it was necessary for the process. Soon after, the Support Team demanded an additional $12,400, claiming it was essential to upgrade my account due to SEC regulations. At this point, a sinking feeling settled in. I tried calling dollar_fx, but they had ghosted me. It became painfully clear: I had been scammed. In a panic, I immediately reset my Instagram account to lock out the fraudsters. Later, I discovered that my friend’s Reddit account had been hacked; the initial message that lured me in was sent by scammers posing as him. Devastated by the loss, I sought help from CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN to investigate and hopefully recover my funds. To my relief, CRANIX ETHICAL SOLUTIONS HAVEN successfully recovered all the money I had lost. I am incredibly grateful for their excellent work.

RECOVER FROM CRYPTO AND BITCOIN INVESTMENT SCAM >>> GET EXPERT HELP FROM HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS
As a lifelong Indiana resident, I never thought I would fall victim to a cryptocurrency scam especially not one that would wipe out $30,000 of my hard-earned savings. It all began when I was contacted by a woman named “Sophia” through Facebook. She claimed to be a professional crypto investment advisor based in Manhattan and came across as incredibly knowledgeable and confident. Her profile was convincing, filled with images of high-end offices, client testimonials, and even fake endorsements from celebrities, all crafted to earn my trust. At first, I had always been cautious with my money, but her pitch was persuasive. She promised a “low-risk” investment opportunity with high returns, backed by what appeared to be credible audits and consistent performance reports. I decided to test the waters by investing $200. To my surprise, I was able to withdraw the money with no issues, which made the platform seem trustworthy. Feeling more confident, I went all in. Over the next few weeks, I invested $25,000 into what I believed were Bitcoin and Ethereum transactions through her platform. The dashboard displayed constant growth. My account balance soared, and I felt thrilled watching my so-called earnings increase. It looked like the investment was paying off until things took a turn. To unlock my “profits,” I was asked to send an additional $4,800 to cover something called “gas fees.” Hesitant but eager to access my growing funds, I sent the money. Then, just like that, the platform disappeared. My account was inaccessible, Sophia stopped responding, and I was left with nothing. My savings were gone, and I felt betrayed and ashamed. Just when I thought I had lost everything, I came across HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS, a cyber forensics group specializing in retrieving stolen cryptocurrency. Skeptical but desperate, I contacted them. They used advanced tools like Chainalysis to trace the stolen crypto across blockchain and collaborated with international authorities and exchanges to freeze the assets. Amazingly, just last week, HACKATHON TECH SOLUTIONS recovered 100% of my lost funds. I was stunned and overjoyed. Thanks to their determination, what I thought was gone forever was returned to me. I learned a painful lesson, but I’m grateful for the second chance. Their contact details are listed below.

BEST BITCOIN RECOVERY EXPERT TO RECOVER LOST OR STOLEN BITCOIN; USDT RECOVERY EXPERT HIRE CYBER CONSTABLE INTELLIGENCE
Working in conflict zones means improvising. When normal banking channels failed us, our NGO relied on Bitcoin to buy medical supplies directly. It worked, until a missile strike took out our field office, along with the hardware wallet that stored $410,000 in funds. Overnight, our ability to deliver life-saving aid is paralyzed.
Amidst the chaos, I reached out to contacts in the humanitarian world. A UN aid worker whispered a name: Cyber Constable Intelligence. "They're the ones who can help you recover lost crypto," he assured me. Despair and hope clashed as I dialed their team on a satellite phone in a conflict zone.
What followed was nothing short of a virtual rescue mission. Cyber Constable Intelligence's blockchain forensic experts didn't simply "recover" our assets; they improvised a fix like battlefield medics performing triage. They tracked our wallet's blockchain timestamps, reconstructing lost credentials from synced backups and transaction history.
Working under direst duress, we communicated information between spotty internet and backup power sources. Cyber Constable Intelligence team members improvised, rendering security protocols impenetrable as they worked through the jurisdictional nightmares of working within war zones. Every update from them was a pulse that kept our mission alive. After our last available backup failed, they instituted a complex cryptographic reconstruction technique, a process I still don't understand, but it worked.
Twelve days later, my satellite device displayed a message: "Access restored. Funds secured."
It was not money. It was bandages, antibiotics, clean water, and hope. Thanks to Cyber Constable Intelligence, we replenish our medical supplies, ensuring that patients, innocent victims who had been caught in the crossfire, received the treatment they deserved.
More than restoration, they advised us on decentralized storage and multi-signature security for long-term durability. We don't simply utilize Bitcoin presently; we utilize it astutely.
Now, each time I sign a crypto transaction, I remember that minute, receiving life-saving medication that might not have come but for this group.
In times of war, not every hero wears a uniform. Some carry keyboards, hunting down lost assets and securing humanitarian aid. Cyber Constable Intelligence not only restored our crypto, they kept our mission in the battle. If you think Bitcoin is just an investment, think again. To us, it's a lifeline.

I had always been cautious about where I put my money, but the allure of high returns in the crypto world was something I couldn't ignore. That's how I found myself investing $93,000 into what I thought was a legitimate Bitcoin investment platform. The initial returns were impressive, and I was hooked, seeing my investment grow day by day on the platform's dashboard. But when I tried to withdraw my earnings, the site suddenly became unresponsive, emails went unanswered, and my funds seemed to vanish into thin air. Desperation set in as I realized I'd fallen victim to a scam. I spent sleepless nights researching recovery options, my trust in digital finance shattered. That's when I stumbled upon a forum where others shared similar stories, and one name kept coming up: Alpha Spy Nest. Skeptical but clinging to hope, I reached out.
From our first interaction, the team at Alpha Spy Nest displayed a level of professionalism and empathy I hadn't expected. They listened to my story, asking detailed questions about how I'd interacted with the scam site, transaction details, and any communication I'd had. Their approach was meticulous; they explained how they would trace the blockchain transactions, looking for patterns and anomalies that could lead back to where my crypto was held. The process wasn't quick, but the regular updates from Alpha Spy Nest kept me in the loop. They used advanced blockchain analytics to trace my $93,000 through various addresses, which had been cleverly disguised by the scammers. Weeks passed, and then one day, I received a call - they had managed to locate a significant portion of my funds.
Alpha Spy Nest had traced the transactions to a few exchanges where the scammers had attempted to cash out or move the funds. With their expertise in dealing with such platforms, they coordinated with legal teams and the exchanges themselves to initiate a recovery process. It wasn't all of it, but I was able to recover 85% of my initial investment, which was far more than I had dared to hope for.The relief was overwhelming, but what stood out was the education they provided. Alpha Spy Nest didn't just help recover my funds; they equipped me with knowledge on how to secure my digital assets better. They recommended stronger wallet security measures, the importance of due diligence in investments, and how to spot red flags with platforms too good to be true.In the end, what could have been a devastating financial blow turned into a lesson in resilience and cybersecurity. BOTNET CRYPTO RECOVER - LEGITIMATE CRYPTOCURRENCY RECOVERY EXPERT
Greetings to all, My name is Rowan Brayden and I hail from the vibrant city of Los Angeles. Today, I am reaching out to each and every one of you to share a personal and eye-opening tale. It is my hope that my story serves as a cautionary anecdote, reminding individuals to exercise prudence and vigilance in the realm of investments.
Allow me to recount an unforgettable chapter from my life, one that taught me invaluable lessons. Some time ago, I was enticed into investing in a seemingly promising platform known as adm trades . Fueled by optimism and a desire for financial growth, I entrusted approximately 450,000 USD, all in the form of Bitcoin, to their platform. With the passage of time, the platform displayed consistent profits, instilling a sense of confidence within me.
However, as I endeavoured to initiate a withdrawal, a series of red flags emerged. Requests for additional fees became incessant, creating an obstacle that I could no longer overlook. In a distressing awakening, I realised that I had fallen prey to a group of deceptive individuals - scammers who had exploited my trust and financial resources.
Faced with the harrowing truth, I confided in my significant other, my wife, who then steered me towards a beacon of hope - BOTNET CRYPTO RECOVERY. Specialising in the recovery of lost or pilfered Bitcoin along with other cryptocurrencies, this organisation emerged as my saving grace during a period of despair. Admittedly, my faith in retrieving the significant sum I had lost was waning; however, BOTNET CRYPTO RECOVERY defied all odds and showcased the remarkable feat of reclaiming Bitcoin sent to an alternate wallet.
As I stand before you today, I implore each individual to remain cautious and discerning when navigating the complex landscape of investments. Let my narrative serve as a poignant reminder of the significant risks that accompany financial ventures, as well as the indispensable role of reputable professionals such as BOTNET CRYPTO RECOVERY in moments of crisis.
May my journey inspire you to embrace prudence, wisdom, and resilience in all your financial endeavours. I highly recommend Botnet Crypto Recovery to anyone who has fallen victim to bitcoin scams or phishing attacks. Their expertise and professionalism are unmatched, and their ability to recover lost bitcoin is unparalleled. Don't hesitate to reach out to them if you're in a similar situation – they will work tirelessly to recover your lost investment.
Warm regards,
Rowan Brayden

FAST AND RELIABLE COMPANY TO RECOVER YOUR LOST BITCOIN DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY
What began as a straightforward effort to manage my crypto savings quickly turned into a distressing ordeal. I had been holding Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and XRP, and decided to download what seemed to be a legitimate cryptocurrency wallet app from the App Store. The interface was flawless, closely resembling the official wallet I had previously used. With no apparent warning signs, I felt secure enough to transfer $150,000 worth of Bitcoin into the app. A few days later, I opened the app to check my balance, only to be met with shock my crypto account displayed a balance of zero. I attempted to refresh the app, hoping it was just a temporary glitch, but the grim truth soon became clear: I had fallen prey to a sophisticated scam. The app was a fraudulent imitation, designed solely to deceive users and siphon off their funds. I contacted Digital Tech Guard Recovery, a cybersecurity firm renowned for recovering stolen digital assets. Their team promptly initiated an investigation into the scam. Within days, they traced the counterfeit wallet app back to a developer located overseas, who had a history of similar fraudulent activities. I soon learned that I was not alone this was part of a larger scheme targeting cryptocurrency users worldwide. Thanks to Digital Tech Guard Recovery, I managed to recover all of the money I had lost. The recovery process was intense, but their efforts paid off, and I was able to retrieve the full amount of $150,000.This has reinforced my commitment to safeguarding my digital assets. I now thoroughly vet app developers and only trust links from the official websites of reputable crypto platforms. While the incident was both financially and emotionally taxing, the successful recovery of my funds has provided me with a sense of relief and security moving forward.

Fraudulent online platforms have become increasingly sophisticated, and I want to share my unsettling encounter to raise awareness. I was initially lured in by the promise of high returns and decided to invest 75,000 USDC, alongside an additional 9,000 USDT that appeared as profit in my account. However, I soon discovered that withdrawing even my initial deposit was impossible. Despite diligently completing all 18 tasks required by the platform, I could not access my funds. The customer service was virtually non-existent, leaving me feeling frustrated and abandoned. It became painfully clear that this platform was designed to create a facade of success, employing clever tactics to entice users into depositing even more money. I felt overwhelmed, anxious, and scared about my financial situation, realizing I had fallen victim to a well-orchestrated scam. In my desperation, I sought advice from a colleague who recommended Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a service that specializes in helping individuals recover funds lost to online scams. Following their guidance, I reported my case, and to my immense relief, I could recover every dollar I had deposited. It’s crucial to understand that the profits displayed on these platforms are nothing more than illusions, crafted to mislead users into believing they are making real gains. They are not actual funds, and the entire operation is a sophisticated scam. I urge anyone who finds themselves in a similar predicament to remain vigilant and cautious. If you encounter difficulties withdrawing your funds or if customer support is unresponsive, take action immediately. Reporting the issue to a recovery service like Tech Cyber Force Recovery can be a game-changer. They possess the knowledge and resources necessary to assist you in navigating the recovery process. My situation serves as a warning for anyone considering investments in online platforms that promise unrealistic returns. Always do your due diligence and be skeptical of offers that seem too good to be true. Safeguard your hard-earned money and stay informed about the potential risks associated with online investments. Remember, if you ever feel trapped or scammed, Tech Cyber Force Recovery is available to help you reclaim your lost funds.
