D-4got10-01304618hDoing stuff, then doing more stuff is terrible, indeed.
Having a steady income is a good thing, though. For most of us, that does require doing stuff. -
jestdotty678417hbut what are you gonna do if not doing stuff though
edit: working sucked because the people were toxic and despite you never having any bugs in 3 years you keep having to do unpaid overtime and oncalls for literally no reason cuz your manager is just neurotic and powertripping. also sitting in meetings for half the day kind of makes you want to drool your brains out -
retoor211616h@D-4got10-01 you don't need a steady income even. Listen to this solution: https://youtube.com/shorts/...

djsumdog694016hI took two big breaks, once for 11 months and another for 5 months. It was nice, but I was never able to get any side projects going or get into a PhD program.
I miss the old job I got laid off from. As bad as some things were, I could use Linux and my workflow felt fairly kino. New place is all shitty Win 11 corporate .NET with crazy group policies and 4 year old Intel 11th gen laptops that run like shit.
I'm glad I took some breaks though, even if they didn't quite work out:

Working is terrible. You have to do stuff and stuff. And when you're done, you have to do more stuff. It's kinda stupid huh.
So once day I just quitted with it and was like, oh, that's nice.
You should try it too!
